Even though our season has come to a screeching halt, I'm sure many of us are still interested in the finals, as we're fans of the game, rather than just fans of the Swans. I mean, I'll happily watch soccer, league, American football, union (at a pinch), but there's no code that I enjoy anywhere near as much as our own game.

Tonight's semi is over in Perth, between Geelong and GWS. In this, it's sort of tempting to say that Geelong looked pretty terrible against Port and GWS played well against us, so therefore GWS are a good chance. However, in our finals system, things don't really work like that. Since the introduction of the present system in 2000, the losing qualifying finalists have a 34 to 8 winning record over the winners of the elimination final. Plus, Greene getting himself suspended and Green getting injured, might have let a fair bit of air out of the tyres of the Giants. Either way, I don't really see either team spoiling Melbourne's party in the prelim.

Tomorrow night Brisbane host the Bulldogs at the Gabba. With no recent covid outbreaks up here, (as far as I know), there should be a raucous crowd at the Gabba. Hopefully, they'll be raucous enough to prevent another edition of "free kick Bulldogs". Go the Lions.
