The Notre Dame Fight Song also featured in the Hollywood movie, "Knute Rockne: All American". This was Ronald Reagan's most famous movie role. Rockne was the famous coach of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Outstanding freshman halfback George Gipp leads the Irish to greater gridiron glory. Gipp is stricken with a fatal illness after the final game of the 1920 season, and on his death bed, he encourages Rockne to someday tell the team to "win one for the Gipper." This saying is often used in American pop culture and Reagan was often nicknamed the Gipper when he was US President. Link below:

there's a first time for everything - i just did the #aflswansdogs post-match pressers and i was the only journo there asking Qs.
honestly i find that a bit staggering for a game involving two teams battling for a finals spot in ostensibly the country's biggest sporting league

We had a lot of good players but those votes seem about right to me. The view I took from watching the game at the SCG was that Reid was my BOG but I didn't necessarily expect him to get the full house of votes. Happy he got (at least) the six he did.
