    South Melbourne reserves coach 1980

Does anyone know who the Swans reserves coach was in 1980?

Or assistant coaches (seniors/reserves) or runners in 1980?

In researching this I came across this Wiki page, every Swans player in history: List of Sydney Swans players - Wikipedia

.....and this, re: coaches: List of South Melbourne Football Club/Sydney Swans coaches - Wikipedia

Unfortunately, nothing on former reserves and assistant coaches/runners.

You might be right there 111431 as he retired mid 70s and, if I recall correctly, he served in a variety of roles including assistant coach, ressies coach (not sure what year though), selector, runner. Not sure specifically about 1980 though.

Ken was coaching in the mid-60s. I doubt he was still there in 1980.

Franklin rings a bell. Reserves may have made finals around that time IIRC

Franklin, Greg Miller and Ricky Quade relocated to Sydney with much of the team when South Melbourne moved up there at the end of the 1981 season. Hence, it makes sense he was probably Reserves coach in 1980. Ian Stewart was our final coach as South Melbourne.

P.S. I do not think there is any known video footage of our last game at the Lake Oval in 1981. Apparently, the team ran onto the ground to be confronted with an all black banner. It must have been an emotional day for all of those players and fans that day. Screenshot_20220721-191807_Samsung Internet.jpg

I have a recollection that Franklin is one of those who have coached 1 VFL/AFL game. Fair chance he was reserves coach.

Just googled Swans coaches. Couldn't find the Reserves Coach but looking at the list of coaches in the history of the club, the worst by far on win/loss was.....drum roll....the one and only Gary Buckerina. We went downhill when they sacked Tom Hafey and appointed Col Kinnear in 1989. Turned a very good team into a crap team then when he went back to Carlton took Greg "show me the money" Williams with him. Buckerina had 3 wins and a draw from 21 games.

My brother suggested Neville Stibbard as the 1980 Reserves Coach.
