    All-Australian Swans?

I am wondering what you all think about the likelihood the Swans will have an All-Australian representative this year and who's the most likely/deserving candidate.

I think, on balance, we won't. Mills is probably the most likely, but I think Heeney is the most deserving: 46 goals, 17 disposal pg, 7 score involvements pg and 4.5 tackles pg. Vying with Shai Bolton as the best all-round forward half player in the comp.

I think Mills, Heeney, and maybe Papley will make the squad, but not sure any of them will make the final team.

Yeah it’s a tough one as we are such an even side . But Mills would be pretty stiff to miss out and Heeneys numbers stack up . Can’t recall a side finishing 3rd not having an All Australian. Definitely wouldn’t happen to a Melbourne based side

Mills deserves to be there, but probably won’t. Heeney should be. Paps second half of year was superb but half a year. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Chad and PMac make squad, but wont make the side.

Papley's no chance of making the squad. He missed the first six weeks and then took a month or so to get into his stride. Even when he started contributing strongly to games, his goal kicking was off.

I'll be surprised if Mills and Heeney don't both make the squad. Whether they make the final team is probably line ball. If the selectors looked at everything that good teams need midfielders to do, Mills should get in, but he doesn't have the possession count (however cheap many possessions are) to challenge some others.

I think Heeney deserves to be in the team but there won't be many forward line spots available by the time they've put the entire Geelong forward line in there, and then two midfielders on flanks. The role he plays is pretty specialised, and while there is attention on his marking and sharking, most of the valuable stuff he does goes unnoticed by the mainstream commentators.

I suspect one of the two will get in, just because they won't want a top four team to have no AAs. That said, Collingwood might be in the same boat. Like us, their evenness is a large part of their strength.

Between recency bias and the 'analysis' that some of the selectors bring to the table (cough cough Kane Cornes for example), I don't think Papley will be far away, even though as you say he probably won't make it.

I think the "selectors in the media" suffer from extreme recency bias but the actual selectors have a bit more of a process. They meet three or four times during the year and assess how players have gone in each block.

I think Blakey & Paddy McCartin are a bit stiff too but I'm likely biased. I think Josh Kelly from GWS is very lucky to be named. I'd have Paddy over Callum Wilkie too.

Wrong , there are a lot of good players in the league . Fantastic to have 4 in the squad but Chad is the only one who should make the final team .
