2022 Finals Week One Fixture

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 1
Second elimination final
Brisbane v Richmond at The Gabba, 7.20pm AEST

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 2
Second qualifying final
Melbourne v Sydney at the MCG, 7.50pm AEST

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 3
First qualifying final
Geelong v Collingwood at the MCG, 4.35pm AEST

First elimination final
Fremantle v Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium, 6.10pm AWST

We will play Friday night and Papley can play!!!

Assuming the Cats beat Collingwood:
- if we beat Melbourne, our preliminary final will be against Collingwood, Fremantle or the Bulldogs;
- if we lose to Melbourne we have to play the winner of Richmond-Brisbane in a semi final, then Geelong in the prelim.

The second path is considerably more difficult.

That first game against Melbourne has ginormous stakes.

It is always harder if you lose the first qualifying final, regardless of who the opponents are, as you have to win one more game after week one of the finals.

We need to pray that Brisbane somehow beat Richmond! I really don't want to meet them in a final if we lose to Melbourne!

Lots to play here with the week off it really opens up for teams from 5 to 8 to make some serious impact . Having said that I think our young side needs this weeks break , we looked a bit tired off the shorter break .

I have no doubt the reason a few years back we targeted players with leg speed was for playing at the MCG . We have a perfect mix of inside and outside grunt and elite skills .

Whatever happens it’s going to be a cracking final series and we’re right in the mix

It’s a good outcome we are playing at the Granny venue.
No need for hard training over the next 11 days, just lots of running and weaving. Players getting run down from behind wouldn’t happen if they didn’t run in a straight line.
