Which one of these will we take with our first pick?
None of this lot excite me and won't be landing with our picks in the teens

I reckon Darcy Jones, Isaac Keeler and Jed Hagan are all players I'd be happy to pick up with our third pick.

Keeler could be a spectacular win or failure. Eligible as an NGA bid match to the Cows from pick 41 and later but doubt he'll drift that far, worth a throw of the dice in the 30's. Too speculative to use a teens pick IMO

He certainly sounds like he is worth a punt! Goodes was taken at number 43. Can he be like that champion? Tall, athletic indigenous player with X factor. Sounds very tempting indeed.

I will back our recruiters in if we take Keeler in with an earlier pick. If we get him with our later pick I'll be thrilled.

Think Keeler will slide a fair way but someone will grab him before pick 40.

Our pick 42 should advance 4 spots (as Brisbane's picks 34, 35, 36 & 38 are burned up matching a bid for Ashcroft) but will be pushed out by bids on Ashcroft and maybe bids on Davey (depending on where the bid comes) and Fletcher being matched too. It could get pushed out by a bid on Rowston, although only if GWS doesn't use its pick 31 to match. Once our gets pushed out past 40, it could be further pushed back by additional bids on NGA prospects.

Fox Footy have published this: AFL 2022: How many available list spots your club has ahead of AFL draft, lodgement deadline, latest news (foxsports.com.au)

    SYDNEY
    Arrivals: Aaron Francis (traded/Essendon)
Departures: James Bell (delisted), Josh Kennedy (retired), Sam Naismith (delisted), Barry O’Connor (delisted), Colin O’Riordan (retired), Ben Ronke (delisted), Callum Sinclair (retired), Lewis Taylor (delisted)
    Uncontracted: None
Contracted: 38 (one category B rookie)
    Draft picks: 14, 17, 42, 75

Two top-20 draft picks will deliver the Swans a great chance to add more quality to a team already brimming with promising young players. Sydney will use only one more selection after that in the national draft and up to two in the rookie draft, although it could keep a spot open. The Swans can also add another category B rookie, with Marc Sheather filling the other. Hayden McLean and Sam Wicks will both be upgraded to the senior list.

If this analysis is correct we've had 2 come in (Francis and HHK) and 8 go out the door - which leaves 6 open spots. Fox are reckoning we will upgrade Wicks and McLean to the senior list (I wasn't clear they were both still rookies, but there you go) and that we will have 3 list spots and 3 rookie spots to fill (including one Cat B rookie to go with Sheather). If this is all right then I think their conclusion that we will take three at the ND and another 1-2 at rookie draft is sound. It's also possible that we only take 2 new draftees at the ND, two at the rookie draft, and still have a spot left over.

I guess not. I suppose that because they haven’t been rookies as long they don't need to be (remembering that Fox was delisted and then re-rookied).

These days the rookie list has very little significance. As far as I can tell the only difference is that a draftee in the national draft must be offered a minimum 2 year contract. And there's a limit to how long you can stay on the rookie list.

2022 Draft Guide AFL View - Aussie Rules Rookie Me Central

Rookie Me has published their 2022 draft guide - only swans academy member mentioned in it is Will Edwards. Numbers not high but impressive 20m sprint times as mentioned on here before.

Ah Magoo, you've done it again, the Rookie Me Central draft guide is comprehensive and in depth.

Reckon there will be some very good players eventuate in the 6-12 range. Will be interesting to see what we do early and still some possible gems for us around the 40 mark our third will end up at. Twenty five sleeps to go LOL, at least we have two on the first night.
