Assuming that it's the same Tom Longmire, that's been going around in academy sides (on and off) for the last few seasons, it's John's son. Generally plays tall forward and probably the best parts of his game are strong defensive pressure and a hard attack on the ball. I think his draft year was last year and since he never really dominated in academy games, I doubt if he's considered a strong draft prospect. However, since he seems to have a good attitude, developing a more mature body, might see him become a late bloomer.

The scary thing reading about Tom Longmire playing VFL is that I saw him in 2014 with John Longmire standing next to me on a platform at Richmond train station after the Geelong v North Semi final. (John was there to watch our upcoming opponent in the Prelim). Tom was so young and it's 9 years later and now I feel old šŸ™.

On the VFL app, they had a wrap of the latest round of practice matches. Unfortunately, the only mention of our game was the score.

    GWS Giants 13.9 (87)
    Sydney 6.8 (44)

And by the way, it seems that all VFL matches will be streamed through the AFL site/app.

So the Swans VFL anonymous side will play their first competitive game against Hawthorn on the SCG at around 10am on Sunday. Of course nowhere to be seen on the Swans website!!!!

Reports from the VFL game much appreciated.

Weddle for the Hawks is who they traded up for with us last draft, gave us the pick we used on Cooper Vickery and their 2023 second and third rounders which are shaping to be early round selections

Seems like Sam Naismith made a successful return to the VFL today. Playing for Port Melbourne, he had 42 hitouts, a goal and 91 dream team points.

Bit of a so so quarter, with occasional moments of quality ball movement, interspersed with longer periods of shoddy disposal.

Individually, McAndrew was good in the ruck, against an AFL level ruckman in Lynch. Sheldrick improved as the quarter went on. Francis took a couple of strong marks up forward and Warner looked dangerous every time he touched it. Havenā€™t really noticed our last draft crop, except for Owen, who did a nice gather and centre from the forward pocket.

Having said that, Mitchell took a good mark at half forward, then in the ensuing goal mouth scramble, Magor kicked a goal with his first touch.
