Rnd 21, vs Giants at Giants Stadium, on Saturday 5 August 7:30 PM

So life after Buddy truly begins this week. Its very sad to see champions reach the end of their careers but that is life I guess, and we have the prospect of seeing the next stars come, just as we have had Plugger, Kelly, Mickey O, Goodes, Kennedy and Franklin etc come in and have amazing careers. aw

So we are up against GWS (but the AFL website also says our next opponent are Gold Coast if you look at the ladder... think the Gather Round has stuffed it up somehow). GWS are a sneaky chance for a top four spot if they beat us, Port, Essendon and Collingwood. We are still in with a top eight chance if we can win three to four of our remaining matches, thanks to Fremantle beating Geelong and Richmond failing to beat St Kilda.

We need to overtake two of Geelong, Bulldogs and Carlton to make the eight. We have tough games against GWS away, our bogey team, Gold Coast at home, Adelaide away and Melbourne at home. Doable!

So Hickey went well in the VFL so maybe he comes in for Bud and McClean goes to the forward line.

    Stephens as sub for Clarke.

Can't see too many other changes given the rest of the team is fit.

    Hickey must come in

Definitely need a ruck and based on people who saw the Ressies thats Hickey.

Id be staggered if Ramps plays so that has to be Francis to come in.

Or, if Mills isnt up for the Midfield, play him down back in place of Ramps and bring in a Mid
Disclaimer, I want Mills in the Mids

Clarke cant play without a job so a waste as a Sub.

Mills did cover more ground then anyone on the weekend so id suggest he can play Midfield

    Clarke's job is on Kelly.
Giants dont have a tall forward line, so may not need Francis.

Clark could also go to Whitfield. The Giants talls are currently Cadman and Riccardi - and while Fox and McCartin can handle them. What about Brown and Green? I'd bring in Francis.

One thing is certain though, if we aren't miles ahead of the Giants at ¾ time - we will be in deep trouble. We currently have a nasty habit of fading, and the Giants absolutely play the game right to the end.
Loose translation from the Latin is - I am tall, so I hit out.

Green or Greene? I think Green has been out injured for the last few weeks, though he might be due back this week.

The Greene match-up is clearly the most vital one across the park. He's been their matchwinner. I suspect Rampe has been his most common opponent over the years, so it will be a challenge if Rampe is unavailable for this match. Cunningham is probably not strong enough in the air, and seems a likely match-up for Bedford or Daniels. In Rampe's absence, Fox might be the first to get a crack, albeit that his form has dropped off a bit in the second half of the season.

I'd definitely bring in Francis to handle one of the taller Giants forwards. Especially if Rampe is missing, but even if he is available.

There's also a chance Hogan might be ready to resume this week.

Could Clarke play on Toby Green?

Either way think Hickey has to come in for Franklin. The no first ruck experiment has been interesting but I don’t think it’s sustainable

I think its time Clarke had a run in the seconds. Roberts was great last week and I would really like to see back in the team.

Not if we want to give ourselves a chance of winning the game.

Mate, Clarke on Toby Green would be giving them a 6 goal start before a ball is bounced- no disrespect to Ryan but that move would be as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike.

Big Tom to come in and maybe Francis if Ramps doesn’t make it. Dyl as sub, or maybe Corey or Roberts.
Unfortunately Ramps is the only one who could play on Punchy, as Fox has been well below form lately. Maybe the Lizard?

Hopefully Rampe is ok and can play on Greene? Otherwise who else could do it? Heeney?

    Hickey for Buddy
    Roberts for Clarke (as sub)

    How far off is Melican?

    It will be shared

    Mills
    Fox
    Harry
    Etc
