AFLW R1 2023: Swans vs GSW (Sunday 2 September @3.05pm, NSO)

The first team for the new season has been announced.

AFLW TEAM: Squad confirmed for season opener

I was a bit taken aback when I first read this to see that Montana Ham was named, as I thought she was out injured. But a short time later they amended the team sheet to read Montana Beruldsen instead. So I guess the wrong name was pulled from a drop-down list.

Looking forward to the game today. It will be interesting to see how much we have evolved since last year as well as how our new players go.

    Go Swans!

Good vibes for all our Swans women, but a special fervent good luck wish for Alice Mitchell making her debut after spending the whole of the inaugural season in rehabilitation from an ACL injury. Mitchell was sobbing when Scott Gowans told her she was in the R1 team (video on Swans site).

Gorgeous day at NSO. Faint smudge of fluffy cloud across the bottom of an otherwise beautiful backdrop. Ripple or beeeze is enough to move the fronds of the palm trees but barely any effect on th sturdier trees. Shouldn’t affect the ball movement.

Yoo-hoo! first goal kicked by Ally Morphett in 2nd quarter. Hope they can build now.

What was Newman thinking? Just gifted the Giants a goal. Momentum killer.

Good run down by Newman. She owes one.
