A major highlight for me has been the year that Nicks has had. After last year's rather disaml effort, he has made himself into a very handy utility and his game against the West Coast was very tight. Consistant all year.

I'm a big fan of Rhino too and think he is shaping up nicely. With a hopefully fit and firing Schnieder next year, combined with Baz and Mick - the foreward line has a potent look to it. If they get the ball from the midfield. Which doesn't always happen.

the biggest bloody lowlight was the fact they kept losing games after being in winning positions

    brisbane, geelong, kangaroos, richmond etc

    should of done better

also the coaching staff playing unfit players

my years highlight was the win against the eagles in the finals
Theres not much left to say

For what it is worth here are my hightlights and lowlights of 2004...

    HIGHLIGHTS

    * Our win over St Kilda at a packed SCG
    * Win over Brisbane after 2 away losses
    * Elimination final win over West Coast
    * The emergence of Paul Beven and Jarred McVeigh
    * Comeback over Carlton after being goooooooone!

    LOWLIGHTS
    * Loss to the Kangaroos in THAT last quarter and of course losing Wally Jackson
    * 4 losses in a row
    * Getting flogged by St Kilda in the Semi's
    * Getting smashed by Port Adelaide
    * Injuries to Schnider, Goodes and Shaubs.

But hey when you balance the two out that is why we love footy!!

This is true, but Sydney fans can thank their lucky stars that the Swans have usually allowed the young recruits plenty of time to mature (at least they have for the past decade or so).

If Sydney had chosen the quick turnaround method, we wouldn't now be watching Kirk, Ablett, Buchanan, O'Keefe, Doyle, Barry nor Mathews, all of whom took far longer than two years to win a permanent spot in the seniors.

Regardless of that, it must surely be a very positive sign that Sydney (unlike say, St Kilda, the Bulldogs, or even West Coast) doesn't feel the need to rush youngsters into the seniors until they are completely ready.

    Lowlights:

    1. Our incredible ability to lapse into mediocrity just when it was the last thing we needed.

The difference between 2003 and 2004 was our ability to snatch defeat from victory in 2004, when in 2003 we won the close ones.

    2. Inabilty to kick big scores and blow teams away. They had to work their guts out to defend small leads at the end of games.

    3. Incredibly poor kicking into the forward line.ie dumb decision making and not kicking to top of the square. (refer Port Adelaide for free lesson)

    4. Potential supporter stress problems due to the above.

Without the above the season would have been one big highlight.

I was dissapointed with my own performance. 3 games for 1 mediocre win against the Tiges, and frustrating Loss to the Bummers, and a capitulation to the Saints in the Final.

Oh and Ch 10's poor showing of swans games.
