|Stats:||Stephen Wright's Career Stats (AFL Tables)|
|Profile:||An unlikely success, Wright was one of the smallest and youngest players in the competition when he made his debut at just 18 in 1979, joining older brother Michael. He struggled initially, but broke through in the second half of the season and announced himself with 27 possessions and four goals in a losing side in Round 21.
He settled into a role as a goalscoring rover, and demonstrated his tenaciousness when, after missing almost all of 1984 through injury, he won the Best and Fairest the next season.
While Barry Mitchell took over the regular roving duties in 1986, Wright adapted, scoring 66 goals in two seasons as a forward who also rotated through the star-studded midfield.
Even as his pace faded, Wright's experience and skill saw him win a second Best and Fairest in 1990.
