    AFL Ladder Predictor

This is a shameless rip-off of an amateur website, but I'll post it only because the other one now requires (free) registration. Good old AFL website - always coming up with it's own ideas.

    http://afl.com.au/?pg=toyota&spg=default

I came up with the following ladder at the end of round 22:
    West Coast
    Adelaide
    Sydney
    St Kilda
    Geelong
    Kangaroos
    Port Adelaide (!)
    Brisbane
    ---------------------
    Fremantle
    Bulldogs
    Melbourne
    Richmond
    Essendon
    Collingwood
    Hawthorn
    Carlton

    Finals:
1 West Coast v 4 St Kilda (Subiaco)
    2 Adelaide v 3 Sydney (Football Park)
    5 Geelong v 8 Brisbane (MCG)
    6 Kangaroos v 7 Port Adelaide (MCG)

Fremantle v St Kilda at Subi in round 21 is an absolutely massive game.

I came up with a similar top 8, but with Swans in 4th and StKilda in 3rd.

It's also quite easy to get Richmond and the Bulldogs into 8th. Melbourne could also do it if they turn around in the next 4 weeks, which is difficult but not unheard of.

Just had another go on the ladder predictor and even if Sydney drops one of its last four games, we'll finish 4th. Win all four and we'll also finish 4th as I cant see St Kilda losing any (plays Geelong, North, Freo (a) and Bris).

I am convinced that playing WC first up and losing, winning a home final the following week, then playing an away prelim final against Adelaide or St Kilda is the best route to the GF.

God help us if Saints go in to the finals on 9 game winning streak. I don't think that will happen - I reckon they'll lose at least one of North, Freo or Brissie.

Of course I should have added that beating West Coast in Perth would be even better.

I used to be in that camp, and I agree it may be the best route to get to a GF, but to win one I think you want to avoid travelling twice: to a prelim then GF.

Which means hosting the prelim, which means winning in week 1, which means going to Adelaide as 3rd place getter.

When I did my prediction, the top 4 were:

    West Coast Eagles
    Adelaide Crows
    St. Kilda
    Sydney Swans

I agree however I dont think we'll take 3rd place off the Saints. They look like they'll win their remaining four games. Pity we dont play them at home in round 22- what a ripper game that would be!

Saints are hot and cold. I think they will probably drop one before the end of the year. So if we want 3rd, we have to win the rest. Not impossible. I think backing up this week is the hardest one of the lot.

StK vs Geelong at TD - could go either way but StK have more advantage due to it being played at TD.

Kangaroos vs StK at TD - could go either way again.

Fremantle vs StK at S - Freo will win because it's at Subiaco.

StK vs Brisbane at TD - depends how well Brisbane progress to that stage IMO.

I'm guessing that St Kilda will win 3 out of the last 4 games.

I hope we win our last 4 (all of them) and we can do so. But knowing us we will probably lose one. This is getting serious. *Covers eyes*
