    Macca - I don't get it???

I might have missed an article or a press release or something, but I am not 100% sure what the strategy is with Macca as a small forward.

He is an endurance freak as far as I know, so his speed is average (not slow), he's not a big body or a real tall body, he's not a particularly accurate kick or a particularly long kick and his skills are ok, but not lightening, so what is his go on the forward line?

He's giving it a fair shake, don't get me wrong, but it's not adding up to me, can anyone shed some light?

'Cause he can't tackle, can't tag and can't defend - or so says Joe the Cameraman.

I guessed that, but was thrown by by the comment on his skills. They're very good, he's just been too slow and second-guessing himself in the midfield. I think he's working well at the moment in the forward line and we do need a crumber.

and I think a midget kicking goals on the angle from 55 isn't too shabby...

He's kicked 8-3 so far this year, equal 4th on the Swans goal kicking ladder and as Q... mentioned one was from outside 50!
Maybe, just maybe, he is a footballer first, 'endurance freak' second.
Also he is the same weight as Monty just 4cm taller (according to the Swannies website which is renowned for its accuracy in this department).

I thought his speed hasn't been bad at all.

His temperament has impressed me, as well as his disposals under pressure and hard tackling. The ball coming off his boot has been better than some of the seniors in the long kicks.

Possibly used as a Craigie replacement next game? (Not sure, coz it says Craigie will be "tested" for next game on the injuries list).

Huh? How would McVeigh be a replacement for C Bolton?

I think thats a good point, perhaps spending time deep forward may be helping him with this as there's less time for second guessing. Admittedly it's not making best use of his running ability but he's certainly in career best form at the moment.

McVeigh's ball skills are exceptional and he is very smart on the field. He is also extremely fit and his offloading isnt bad at all.

I always thought he deserved his spot in the team.
