Would you support a Western Sydney team?

Collingwood are at it again, offering to play away games in Western Sydney (the article doesnt specify how many). However, AFL NSW/ACT general manager Dale Holmes has rejected Collingwood's 'offer', stating that he believes that Western Sydney needs a domiciled club committed to the community in Western Sydney. But who would support this team? Would Westies who currently follow the Swans or another AFL team switch allegiance?

    support a WS team? No.

Would think it would be The Westies who go for other teams (do these people exist?) who would make up the fan base.

Would be nice to have a local rival I could really get the hate up for. In fact I hate the Western Sydney ......'s. already. Culture problems you see.

It would be the team I'd love to hate.

I live in the (far north) West.

    And guess what?

I'll leave the Swans for a new team when Hell freezes over.

They could be the Manly of the AFL. The team everyone loves to hate.

The bloke sitting next to me in the staffroom has just clobbered me. How did we get a Manly supporter down here?

P.S. He says he will belive it when he sees a AFL club in Western Sydney.....no way he says.

    Ummmmmmmmmm.

    No.

    1. The Bushrats tried it on once before. The window of opportunity is definately now closed. Remember ... Carey is a wanker? There's only one team in Sydney?

    2. For as much as we are overpopulated, Sydney isn't big enough (AFL-wise) to support two teams. IF (and that's a big bloody IF) another team came in, it would have to be a team that already has a supporter base. If that happens, see point one.

Besides, were are the wobbles thinking of playing? Telstra Stadium is not in the "Western Suburbs" (where the "bogans" live). It's 12k's from the city.

If Eddie's thinking about the "new AFL stadium" at Blacktown ... fantastic!! It's smaller than Manuka - good luck to the ferals getting a seat. They're gunna love the amenities at Rooty Hill station.

Wouldn't change my allegiance - I'm a swans die hard. I could still find a space in my heart to support a second NSW team also but not on Rivalry Round weekend!

I would love the Pies to play games up here. Anything to continue the development of the game. What would be good is if both Swans/Pies Home and Away were played at Telstra each year. One extra game - say Pies vs Dogs/Dees would be tops. So long as there was no clash against the Swans gate a massive double header weekend of footy! Superb!!!!

I would support them creating another team in Sydney every day of the week....

But would I ever change allegiances and barrack for them over the Swans???? Not whilst I live and breath.....

I don't think they're expecting any Swans fans to barrack for them. They'd be expecting to attract a whole new bunch of supporters. It could be very good for both the code and the Swans.
