This is a really sad and thought-provoking article.
Ryan O'Keefe's mum is a seriously good woman - I don't know if I would have gone to the same lengths.

fantastic article and very enlightening about the differences of club culture and real life
What a sad. sad story.
I heard a little kid the other day saying,"If drugs are so bad why do they make them?" If only it were that simple.
The clash of middle class values and what it holds dear with other outlooks on life is something that makes me shake my head everyday. And you would think I would be able to make a modicum of difference in my job but I feel as though it is a losing battle.
"The Dog days are over, The Dog days are gone" Florence and the Machine
This was the most telling words for me...
I hope that AFL clubs are learning something about dealing with young men in general and aboriginals in particluar, after this and the Ben Cousins saga.Upon her return, she called the Geelong Football Club and told an official on the other end of the line: ?Don?t you ever let this happen again. Don?t you ever neglect a player like this again.?
The unnamed official assured her: ?We know that. It?s different now.?
