Further to what GS14 said, I believe if a player retires a rookie cannot be elevated in his place. However he could do a Gherig and go on the long term injury list - but he would have to have an legitimate 'injury'.

He was sitting behind me on a flight from Adelaide to Sydney the day before the Bulldogs game. We had a brief conversation and on gameday he was helping out with the ressies as he usually does.

Oh Nasty... A @@@@wit sandwich.... No wonder he's off the radar. Being in between those two for any period will naturally lead to a loss of football knowledge. They're like sponges and they can suck the intelligence out of anybody...

He was in the QBE box at ANZ on the Essendon weekend and from what one of my colleagues said - he was giving everyone some pretty decent advice on red wine and made mention of his role with the World Youth Day palava which from all accouints he is really excited about. He also presented everyone in the box (about 20) a swans garden gnome (the one that looks strangely like Bob Davis) nothing was mentioned about his return - but he looked fantastic (well my collegue knows a fit good looking bloke when she see's one). (Sorry Jenky I couldnt get your posters they didnt have them at the Chairmans do).
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................
