Anyone going? Parking is horrific to semi nonexistent (people in the stand alone would fill in the car park). Seating is extremely limited to probably a couple of hundred, The Hill is extensive and has a fairly enthusiastic slope which precludes any seats except around the top rim. We looked at it and as we don't "do" ground it looks like we will be missing out this year.

Anyone know if there is any other parking out there other than the little one near the ground, and the rim of parking on the other side of the "take your life into your hands" highway?

However, the boys will have a great hitout. Or even a win?

Anyone know if we are going to have a practice match out at Rouse Hill again this year? That was pretty cool.

Especially against Carlton, but they do tend to take the NAB very seriously as it's their only hope for success in any given season.

Well they'll be doing it without Walker Houlihan and Betts who have been banished from the club from a month and suspended from playing in the NAB Cup for their involvement in the booze cruise saga.

    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Even with the internet, it's not easy researching past records of PreSeason Competition games from even fairly recent years. But for the record, the last time the Sydney Swans actually won ONE SINGLE game from a PreSeason Competition was 8 years ago(!!) under Rodney Ede, when on 4th March 2002 they beat Hawthorn 15-9(99) to 8-9(55) at Princess Park.

I know that other than its financial rewards, the NAB Cup is fairly inconsequential, (witness a recent occasion when Carlton won both the NAB Cup and the Premiership wooden spoon in the very same year). That said, it would be nice for my son, who is now almost in High School, to have a living memory of just one single win in a PreSeason competition.

I remember winning the thing in 1982, I think it was against North Melbourne and I think it was called the escort or panasonic cup back then.

It wasn't a pre-season comp then. It was a night comp, played on Tuesday nights during the season, usually at Arctic Park and televised live. But yes we did win it in 82, I was there and couldn't talk for 2 days I was so hoarse.

As a football club, nothing says you don't take yourself seriously, quite like taking the Escort /Ansett /Wizard cup seriously

Come on John give us something interesting and just play the young uns

I wish I could be there but I've got a prior commitment (AC/DC @ ANZ Stadium anyone?). However GO SWANNIES! Let's get one NAB Cup win for Roosey before he leaves.

Yep, I've got tickets to the Thursday gig. Should be brilliant.

Our NAB Cup odds halved from $41 to $21. Someone is finally taking notice of our drafting and preseason.

First year out of school in '74 I worked for a short time at a bank in the city. Right opposite the bank were the 2SM studios, at the time #1 station on the radio by a fair margin and I managed to get concert tix fairly regularly.

I went to a 4 band concert at the Horden Pavillion. The opening act was AC/DC with Angus resplendent in school uniform and Bon Scott screaming in the mic. I doubt more than 5% of anybody there had heard of them before and as usual with opening acts, they played about 3 songs before being ushered offstage. Next up were Skyhooks who managed to get 4 songs in before getting the flick. Renee Geyer had 2nd billing and Hush were the main drawcard.

36 years down the track (reality is hitting home as I type, 36 years ...lol) AC/DC became huge and still are, Skyhooks were huge and are still fairly well remembered although kids my daughters age get a surprise when u tell them Red Symons was a rock star.

Renee Geyer occasionally gets a 'oh yeah, I remember' but Hush....barely come across anybody who vaguely remembers them, although they get some recollection when you tell them the two guitarists were asian, a bit of a rarity in those days.
