The Newcastle City Blues won their third straight premiership today defeating rivals Cardiff by 51 points.

The match was set up in the first term where the Blues beat the Hawks to the ball at nearly every contest kicking 6 goals 6 behinds and could have converted more chances. Newcastle City led by 34 points and were never headed.

They extended their margin to 44 points at half time and continued to win every quarter.

The final score was 17.21 (123) to 10.12 (72).

Luke Rawnsley won the McBain Medal after being judged best on ground.

Earlier in the day, Singleton won the Reserve Grade Premiership easily accounting for Nelson Bay and Cardiff over ran Killarney Vale in the last term to win the Under 18 Premiership.

Singleton won back to back premierships and Cardiff completed the hat-trick after winning in 2008 & 2009.
