Get on board - Grundy is the real deal

Been watching his development with interest, the move to the backlines last year brought him to a new level and this year his confidence is up and performances another notch up again from 2009.

Have a good look at who he stands in games and what he is contributing. It's impressive.

I'm now of the conclusion that Reg has really arrived and, whilst he looks a little unfashionable, is now a genuine class CHB.

This is great news for us because with CHB covered and LRT getting the oppositions gorilla, it releases C Bolton to play on our opponents 2nd or 3rd forward and that is a luxury for a current All Australian.

Could not agree more with this post^^^^, I remember when he first started, My mate and I were getting a bit frustrated by him when he was playing up forward, fair to say he wasn't our favourite swans player, but in the last couple of seasons, especially last season, he's definately found his spot in the backline. It'll be interesting when we play the lions if we play him on Brown, in the past Bolton has played on him and done well, but we'll have to wait and see who gets 1st crack at him.

Can someone remind me who played on J.Brown in the round 22 clash last season? Cant remember.

Can he win most improved again? Racks up possessions as well as nullify his opponent.

Has had an awesome pre-season which has helped this big improvement.

Yes, I've always thought Reg could be an asset. Nice to see Roos's wrap, saying he not only minds his man but reads the play very well and can run off and generate play. Has progressed well.

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

After calling for his resignation for a couple of years, and withdrawing my appeal last year, I am heartily encouraged by the fact that coaches were right and I was wrong. It seems they do know what they are doing without my inane input. Blush.

Nope...I didn't think he had his current performances in him. Great to see he's proven me wrong.

As a defensive KPP you don't get too many wraps but I think the whole comp has noticed how he held Riewolt and often beat him in marking contests. I love he gets a lot of the ball and how composed he is. Such an important player to us now.

There was a nice piece somewhere last week about how his big mark against Port was his turning point.

I can't be bothered trawling back through old posts to see what I did think but I imagine that I didn't think much of him as a forward and was probably sceptical of his ability to make it as a defender at the senior level. His performances in the back end of 2009 and his going on with it in 2010 makes you think that an AA guernsey is waiting in the not too distant future.
What a beautiful thing is footy when a player can remake themselves and forge a career!
    He's a fine representative of the #39!
