This rain makes for some fun footy tomorrow........what odds are the 2nd ground being used to preserve the main ground for Prems? I'll run with 4 to 1.

Could hear the collective sigh just south of here from the Penriff camp, with the Balmain Premier team named. Although, they could play their Premier side on Saturday (D2) and then back up on Sunday, is that still a by-law? Playing up but not down the grades when both teams play on the same weekend?

I reckon Balmain would love to get their twos back to Div 1 next year, good chance of that happening either way if previous promotions are any indication.

Yep, they are allowed to play their PD players, despite exceeding the "nine or more games in a higher grade" rule as they have both teams in finals. Probably taking a risk in PD that they wont make the GF.

Probably unfortunate for Penrith that the D2 Grand Final isn't next week (Instead of the D3 GF being played next week). That way, if Balamin werent playing in PD GF, they wouldn't be able to play their 4 or 5 PD players with over 9 games that they are playing tomorrow.

Rule is that a player can only play in 1 finals game per weekend.

What the heck, another year in D2 for Penrith would be OK. Exceeded expectations this year

Grand Finals ? Today at Blacktown International Sports Park

DIVISION TWO ? Penrith v Balmain ? Finals: Pen d HP 7. Bal d Aub 5; d SU 63; d HP 6. Previous ? Round 5: Balmain 15.14 104 d Penrith 13.8 86; Round 12: Penrith 14.16 100 d Balmain 6.4 40. Rams in great form with eight wins in a row since their flogging from Parramatta in round 10, including the 10 goal win over the Dockers. Balmain dropped off in the second half of the season, falling from top to fifth, but have now won five in a row including three finals. Rams haven?t had a hard match for a while and the Dockers are a chance if it gets close, but I think Penrith is the best team and will win by 14 points.

DIVISION FOUR ? Penrith v Moorebank ? Finals: Pen d MU 44. Moo lt MU 3; d UTS 10; d MU 22. Previous ? Round 1: Penrith 8.4 52 def Moorebank 7.5 47; Round 11: Penrith 13.12 90 d Moorebank 2.5 17. Like the seniors, the Rams have had two weeks off during the finals, while the Magpies have played three tough matches to get here. Penrith is keen to make up for last year, when Moorebank beat the Rams in the Division 3 grand final. This is shaping up similar to the second semi final against Mac Uni, with the Warriors being a similar team to the Magpies. It?s going to be a big day for Penrith. Rams by 20 points.

UNDER 18 CHALLENGE ? Campbelltown v Manly-Warringah ? Finals: Ctown d MW by 55; MW d MU by 14; lt Ctown by 55; d MU by 21. Last week ? MW lost Cam by 55; MU def HP by 36. Previous ? Round 7: Campbelltown 14.7 91 d Manly 12.11 83. Round 13: Campbelltown 17.21 123 d Manly 7.2 44. 2nd Semi: Campbelltown 16.14 110 d Manly 8.7 55. After a fright early on in the season, the Blues have been unchallenged for the most part. Manly edged within 20 in the last quarter a fortnight ago, but couldn?t go on with it, and the Blues should complete a perfect season by 41 points.

DIVISION FIVE ? Southern Power v Manly-Warringah ? Finals: SP d Moo 60. MW d SU 19; d Moo 122. Previous ? Round 3: Southern Power 13.19 97 d Manly 2.2 14; Round 9: Southern Power 20.23 143 d Manly 2.3 15. The undefeated Power destroyed the Wolves in both matches they played early in the season and cruised through the second semi final. It?s hard to find a reason why the Power won?t win again, but here goes. Manly is a totally different team to last time they met, and were unbelievably brilliant in their win over Moorebank last week. They are in this to their eye teeth, but it will be an upset if they win. Power by 12 points.

Preliminary Finals ? Tomorrow at Blacktown International Sports Park

PREMIER LEAGUE ? Balmain v Sydney University ? Last week: Bal lt ECE 18; SU d NS 91. Previous ? Round 5: Dockers by 14. Round 12: Dockers by 20. Qualifying Final: Dockers by 20. Two very interesting stats about this game. For the second week in a row, the Students must get over a team they haven?t beaten this season. The Dockers, meanwhile, must break a hoodoo stretching back to 2002, which is the last time the second semi final loser bounced back to win the preliminary final when UNSWES lost to North Shore by two points and recovered to beat St George by 54 at Mac Uni Oval. Hard to split them, especially looking at last week?s results, and I think the streak will continue with the Students to win by 7 points.

DIVISION ONE ? Southern Power v Macquarie Uni ? Last week: MW d SP 41; MU d SU 11. Previous ? Round 10: Power by 46. Round 19: Power by 8. The Warriors have rediscovered their early season form in the finals and are well set to possibly move through to a grand final. The Power?s finals win over the Students was bit more impressive, and they have two wins this season. I think, with key players back on deck, the Warriors might sneak in by 9 points.

UNDER 18 PREMIER ?Pennant Hills v St Ignatius Riverview ? Last week: PH lt ECE by 43; SIR d NS by 62. Previous: Round 3: Saints by 25. Round 11: Demons by 15. The Saints have turned up the heat in the finals, and I don?t think anyone outside the school grounds thought they could produce the result they did last week. The Demons will be desperate to bounce back for another crack at the Eagles, but I think they might find it tough. Saints by 11.

DIVISION THREE ?UTS v Sydney University ? Last week: UTS lt UNSWES 51; SU d SP 36. Previous ? Round 5: Bats by 16. Round 16: Bats by 1. Qualifying final: Bats by 15.Three wins for the season by the Bats, but none have been comfortable as there is little between the teams. A game that could go either way, but you have to go with three out of three in this case. Bats by 10.

The Premier League Preliminary Final is, of course, the Digital Sports AFL Sydney Match of the Week, screening 6.30pm and 12am next Friday, September 16, on Main Event Channel 518.
A reminder also, that all Saturday's grand finals, plus the above match, will be streamed live on digitalsports.com.au
It would be much more preferable to see you all at Blacktown International Sports Park, but if you can't get there, join me and others, including Murray Conallin, from 8.35am tomorrow morning for all the action.
"It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.

Having a look at the Dockers side tomorrow they've got 11 players with a combined 81 PD games this year, including three with a combined total of two games in Div 2.

Unfortunately thems the rules, but it makes it pretty tough. That said, I'm sure we'll be in it up to our eyeballs.

Would have thought that both teams would be a fair chance of promotion given that the Div 1 teams of ECE and SU are moving up to PD due to the NEAFL.
