So that's Mattner and LRT out for Tippett and McGlynn.

Leaves us a little light on down back doesn't it?

I don't think it does as LRT could come in and play down back as would be the plan since the thought of recruiting Tippett came about. This actually strengthens our backs and the addition of Xavier Richards strengthens the backs even more. Height in the backline was always a problem for us in years past, having to use Bolts and Leo on 1st & 2nd KPP players. Now height is becoming one of our strengths. We even have 6ft2 to 6ft6 players who are really fast. Sometimes a player has some form issues and we haven't had the capacity in the past with our backline to say have a game in the two's and maintain great from, now we do.

Rohan in for Morton and I think you would find LRT may just nudge out pyke

Pyke will play every game if fit. Can only see him being left out if it is a very wet day. Saw the Adelaide final last week and he was darn good as well as the GF.

I agree Nico we would be fools to leave Pyke out and our selectors are not fools. LRT will probably play back. Look at his game in the finals when Reg was out. He was super and he showed just how comfie he is in the back half. I think we will be rotating players to play on particular targets this season. This is particularly pertinent to the back half. Reg has problems with the big strong forwards, LRT has been known to handle these guys pretty well. LRT will probably also do a double team on Buddy as well, we could well see the first backman on the interchange bench.

It looks a very strong line up and it is only going to get stronger if Membrey, Towers, Rohan and Cunningham are thrown into the mix early. Towers and Membrey are physically and match ready according to AFL.com and Rohan may not make it back early but will definitely be there sometime in Mayish at the latest. This squad is starting to resemble Lions of the Naughties.

no doubt........we just need to micro manage Gazza.........he will be lucky to be ready come the second half of the season let alone the first half.

We have enough talent without pushing Gaz......I want Gaz right for 2014-15-16-17-18-19-00 onwards

Towers looks like he could play the role that Gaz was given quite easily.......he is very very quick and can easily chase down any fast HBF like Gaz's role in Seniors.

Lambie looks like he would be a fair contender for that role also

Morton and Rohan had their role very much simplified in 2012

Agreed. I don't think we'll see much of Gaz in the firsts in 2013.

Good thread and some good replies. I do like the look of the side post veterans retirements, gives me real confidence about the next few years.

The overall list looks very strong, late season 2013 we'll be starting to look at the list changes in readiness for the drafts. I wonder how many retirements there will be ? Who may not have progressed enough to keep their place on the list? Who will we draft with pick 18?

Already got my mind ticking over and it's not even Xmas yet!

Hate to use the dreaded word, DEPTH, but that is an imposing list down to 27. Can't see Mattner being out of the 22 in 2013.

Well I'm impressed with the depth. Hope we don't need it to much!

Would be interesting to see the ages of the players in a similar format.

Expect that Goodesy and Jude are at the launching pad, ROK and Marty (etc) are in the lineup. However the depth will be needed in 1-3 years and the how to hold onto them is the next big step.

With KT holding nearly 10% of the budget - better kick some goals IMO!

Kick and create goals would probably be more accurate. He'll provide an imposing target for us and will take the best defender. That'll bring the rest of the forwards into play.
