Hawthorn, eh?
I'll see your Lake and raise you a Tippett.

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
My Lake Tippeth over.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
They are calling the premiership cup the Brian Lake Cup 2013. Hope he does a hammy 5 minutes into round 1.

Why was there not the scrutiny and questions surrounding Lakes move to The Hawks that there was surrounding Tippett?
I would assume Lake would be on some pretty serious coin, Hawthorn didn't lose many players, and would have to have a few players in the upper echelon as far as pay goes, yet not a whimper from the media.
It's an interesting question. From what we've heard in the media I get the impression that Lake had blotted his copybook at the Bulldogs in some way and perhaps would be happy to go to a new environment, especially one with the premiership window wide open. This won't be the case at WB for some time yet. He may even have been prepared to accept less than he might ask in other circumstances. Maybe time will tell.

Facts can be used to prove anything that's even remotely true.

I seem to remember reading Lake took a significant paycut to fit into the Hawks cap. Sacrificed income in the hope of winning a flag before he retires. Pity for him we'll have Tippett and Reid in his way next year!
Lake is on big money at Hawthorn.
I guess the Buddy show is the big attraction to the media. I struggle with how Hawthorn could be favorites. I cannot remember a side with such a poor midfield winning premierships. I thought that most of 2012.
Mitchell is a superstar. Lot's of respect for Sewell, but he is just a real goer. GF emphasizes that, her really struggled to do damage despite winning a lot of ball
Jordan Lewis is not an A grader, Burgoyne was a superstar, but doesn't have the consistency. Add to that they are slow.
I cannot see them matching the midfields of Sydney Collingwood and west coast
Can you lay bets to short a side to not make top 4?
Sorry for injecting seriousness into the thread
