Thread: Swans v Saints

I see that the reserves list has been revised and now has all the I/C players included. Maybe a backtrack cover up. At least four will be removed at later stage.

The fact that Lamb hasn't played a full game for a couple of weeks counts against him but he would be good in the forward line and give Benny a more upfield or stopping role. Or Cunningham in to share the bench with Gazza. I wouldn't 'rest' Bird.

Round 23 (a bit off the subject!) is going to be very interesting with Horse signalling that Reid, Goodesy and Jetta are on track for consideration for that game. Jesse is going to have to play the games of his life to make it impossible to drop him for Reid. A return for Jets may depend on how Rohan goes these next two games and more importantly pulls up after them.

Realistically Goodesy must be the only one you would rush straight into the firsts but in what position?. If KT, Jesse, Mummy and Pykey have worked out how to complement each other in the forward line by then, Goodesy could well stuff it up because he plays his best when he is doing his own thing! Still, you have to think that Jesse is again the vulnerable one.
I wouldn't to be honest rest BJ, I would just put him back in the reserves. He's had a great start to his seniors career, but has a lot of developing to do, and his contribution in the last fornight has been neglible really. He certainly isn't going to be in our best 22 (unless more injuries prevail) come finals time.

Birdy would be unlucky if dropped, but of he's rested, fine. He is a very important part of our team and will be especially so in finals.

After seeing Harry in the Ressies last week I would give him a run. He looked a class above last week and I think he'd be ready to bring in for an extended run anytime. Obviously that'd likely be 2014 but he's ready for more AFL action.

Pretty much agree with this entire post. Lamb over Cunningham based on experience. Agree that Jesse has his work cut out for him, but Longmire said earlier in the week that he is very happy with how the big men are playing together.

A lot will depend on whether we beat Geelong. If we do, that gives Horse room to move on team selections for round 23. If we don't, he can't take any chances.

I'm probably talking loco, but how about Goodes on-ball, keep our big four, Jetta and Rohan on each wing or maybe Rohan in a forward pocket? Pre-injury disasters, Goodes was talking about moving into the midfield. Hawks and Geelong are susceptible to speed, so if Jetta and Rohan can demonstrate fitness and an ability to play, you'd have to seriously consider keeping them both. Thats a big if though.

Beating Geelong is quite important because it gives them room to experiment before the main game. One thing is looking certain though - some players will miss out in the coming month when they don't deserve to. The Swans 'team first' culture will be put to the test.

Agree. Like Smith, he does his job without much fanfare.

Its doing my head in. He could get picked up by another club easily as we keep dropping him...How can we Play Shaw and drop him? I'm getting on the blower to Horse for a full explanation. Watch this space. He probably won't take my calls...again.

?? He played every game last year and missed the first game this season..I don't remember why. Missed geelong round 3 or so but every game since...so about 40 of a possible 43 or so?? Where's the problem? Seems to me to be safely locked into the 22.

He's only been dropped once this year, for rnd 4 and missed rnd 1 (due to fitness/injury, I think).
And played every game in 2012

they are playing merry go rounds with the ressies team list. The only players nominated that were originally included in I/C senior list are Harry and BJ. The other 5 removed!! A point I was going to make on Uggs reserves thread (not yet up) about the list is the that it is the first sign of Sam Naismith for our Club. Must have been a long year for him.
