    TLM Countdown - Rnds 22-23, 2013

I finally did some work myself.

    R22 v Geelong @ Simonds Stadium
After a frantic start when the Cats had all the play, the first venture inside the swans Forward 50 is marked by Tippett who goals to give the swans the early lead.
Unfortunately Shaw who started well was then subbed out early with a knee injury. Geelongs sub Chapman came on early also for a concussed Nathan Vardy only to prove himslef a nuisance scoring a goal and 9 disposals in his short time on the ground. The cats scored in bursts as did the swans, but their bursts resulted in more goals than ours. It was a tough and hard battle. The swans hung on but could not gain the upperhand. Pyke finished with 3 goals. Kennedy and McVeigh with 30+ possessions

    Cats by 44.

Goals: Pyke 3, McGlynn 2, Tippett, Hannebery
Bob Skilton Medal: Jarrad McVeigh 40, Josh Kennedy 35, Mike Pyke 35

    R23 v Hawthorn @ ANZ Stadium
Friday night footy in Sydney. Tippett is a late withdrawal.
White got the first goal og the game after 12 minutes of play. The Hawks answered quickly through Roughead, but then the swans went on to kick the next 3 goals. They were here to win. 4 swans goals to 5 in the 2nd and a Buddy Franklin report had the swans up by only 9 points at the main break. 4 goals each in the 3rd term saw the swans lead cut by a mere point. Parker was having one of his best games. 3 goals in 5 minutes and the Hawks now lead by 9. The swans seemed to have run out of steam, although they fought on hard.

Hawks by 12 points, setting up a Qualifying Final at the MCG with the Swans.

Goals: White 3, Parker 3, Rohan 2, Mumford 2, Bolton, K. Jack, Mitchell, McGlynn, Pyke, Morton
Bob Skilton Medal: Josh Kennedy 43, Shane Mumford 43, Kieren Jack 39

Surprisingly close to the coach's votes.
Must be smarter footy fans than some media outlets think!

Maybe we understand what the team is supposed to be doing more than the media does?

    Agree completely Primmy.

    Agree more Royboy!
"It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.
