    comings & goings for 2014

Another thread to keep us all amused while we wait for the bounce of the first ball.............

Some valuable recruits announced already - Round, Conway and Ericson to Picken Oval and that sounds promising for Wests. I liked Wests last year but they just seemed a bit undermanned when the crunch came. These three recruits from Balmain will bolster the stocks.

Dean Brogan and Gerrard Bennett to Campbelltown sounds promising too. These are two big bodies, and that was something that Campbelltown lacked last year. You have to wonder what's in it for these two guys to play suburban paddock football in Sydney after where they've been these past few years. It surely wouldn't be the money.
I can't wait to see Brogan in the ruck in our footy - he's a big, big man and will be instantly noticeable.

Dare I say....a bit of an exodus from Balmain and no IN-box at this early stage. I think most of us local footy fans hope that Balmain can get it together this year. No public announcement of a coach so far which is a bit of a worry with just a few weeks to go. Perhaps Damien Hall will step up to the plate again if he can't track down anyone better.

The IN-box at UTS continues to grow. I don't know how legitimate their list is and whether these recruits can play at all. But I loved the enthusiasm that they showed last year, if not the footy-smarts, and I hope for good things for them too.

Now it's over to those-in-the-know to fill us in on who else is coming and going for 2014.

Luke Jarjoura has signed on as Balmains playing co-coach. A formal announcement will be released shortly.

Other recruits are a mix of Balmain old boys, interstate guys living locally and a few from other Sydney clubs.

The departures so far are the paid players and a couple of their mates.

The Sheagles seem to have shown their hand early this year with a swag of "ins". Pity they don't get as enthusiastic when an "out" hits their email. Manly also look to be strong, with James Brain returning home from a stint in SANFL and Swans academy players Jordan Weir and Jackson Pola-Smith switching over from the students.
