"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."
Teams should be picked on form, not reputation. As wonderful as Goodes has been to our club, he should not be an exception to that rule. Laidler has done well so far this year, and should keep his spot in the team imo, especially given the imperious defensive performance we managed against Port - when things are going well, don't upset the apple cart.
Its a choice between Towers and Goodes in my book as to who makes way for McGlynn.
"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."
Towers is the most like for like replacement for McGlynn, who could perform the same roving/small forward role (with better defence and hardness). But I think Towers played pretty well the last couple of games and I think it would be a shame if he was not rewarded for his efforts so far.
I think Laidler is criminally underrated both this year and last year as a vital link-up player in our back 6 and one of the reasons Port weren't rewarded for their forward entries. He's Mattner 2.0 in my opinion. Although he has more long term potential as a KPD, Reid has contributed less than him in defence, particularly exiting the back 50, in the last two rounds.
Sitting with the Swans cheer squad behind the goals, it was Syyyyydneeeey.
There was polite applause when the Vale Richie Benaud tribute came up - except from the rude Port supporter who was sitting in seat 7, row E, section 145 who repeated & disrespectfully asked "was Richie Benaud a footballer?! Why is his name up there?" ... then again, he was foul mouthed all night going to town on Buddy in particular but anyone in red and white in general (including supporters), & resorted to splashing the Swans cheer squad with his drink bottle at the end. Worse still, his feral little boy with an equally foul mouth is behaving the same way. Yup 7E145, I'm outing you. Other than that, most of the other Port supporters were pretty good, IMO, considering the game.
It was a Sydney chant.
I haven't watched the replay yet, but I'm pretty sure that the only noise "at the loudest stadium in Australia" came from the swans cheer squad.
I lost my voice and I think it's in row 5 somewhere.
The port supporters were nowhere near as feral as what I had been warned.
Unfortunately, security at the ground told the GA people to leave the first three rows free for the cheer squad, when in fact, the first five rows should have been kept free.
Two rows of people had to find new seats... one wouldn't budge. (said tosser from goswannies post above).
The people around us generally were pretty decent, although like a huge pack of scardy cats, we waited until the ground had cleared before we left... just in case.
Great seeing you and yours goswannies.
I had an awesome weekend.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.
I think Rampe has taken Super Marty's 'cape'. Massive left foot and tenacious tackling. I could see Rampe replicating Marty's tackle in the fourth quarter of the 2012 GF.
If you are looking for a recent reference maybe LRT? Underrated by many but plays the team game and it would be more noticeable if he wasn't playing.

Rampe made up for some pretty ordinary disposal last week.
I know he was not alone, but he usually isn't that bad.
I think he must have had the right peptides this week.
Was unstoppable.
I don't know why you would stuff up team balance by getting rid of a bloke who had 14 disposals at Half Forward, kicked 2 goals, 2 goal assists, 6 tackles, had great efficiency and ran all day. I don't think the people who want to get Towers out are seeing the bigger picture that Horse and co are trying to produce. towers is being groomed as our Luke Bruest, a specialist HF who can go into the mids if need be. He won't be dropped especially after that performance. Goodsie might just go out but others are calling for Rohan to be dropped. No way, his switching with Heeney & Macca from HB to HF was pivotal in confusing the Port players and coaching staff. His second, third and fourth efforts were great, same with Isaac. He might be 18 but he is built like a Greek God, strong, full of endurance and skilled. for the kid it is all about team and if he starts to flag he will be the first one to put his hand up. Speaking about team, this is what Aussie Rules is all about, it is not about stars and big names, it is about everyone doing their role. I have seen teams with big stars who never won a premiership. Take the Sydney teams under Hafey, lots of stars, no premierships to go with them. We have stars but they play the team game. you take Buddy & Tip, they always play the team game and do the hard things, chase, tackle, give off to teammates in a better possie. forget that Adam has been a great champion, it is now that counts not then. what's past is past and this is the 2015 season and sometimes you have to take one for the team. If that means Adam getting the tap on the shoulder then so be it.
I was watching the short highlights on the Swans site and saw Jack Trengove punch Heeney in the right eye. It was not in the play but during Swans celebrations. Quite amazing and disgusting. Has Jack been reported?
Haha! Annie, the pleasure was very much ours!
The Ch7 telecast didn't show us holding up the banner though
& the premier of SA asked me to thank you for your financial boost of the SA economy after your spree on the weekend ... Adele says you're a spending inspiration!
Hope to make it over to you later in the season
