    Phelan Medal

    Was interesting to see Pettersson win by such a wide margin - 9 votes is a drubbing. Most people would have had Stubbs winning by that margin. A quick look at the breakdown of the votes. He had it won after round 6. Didn't have to play another game & still would have saluted...Pretty incredible.

    Well done to Pettersson on a well-deserved award.
    As you say, Barista, Stubbs had a great year too but he had some hard-hitting teammates taking the focus off him - Browning, Emery, Dimery, Anderson, OConnell and that's just the first few that I think of. This year, Manly didn't have the stars shining as they have done previously.

    That was the difference. The Eagles were all taking votes off each other, while Pettersson was a stand-out for Manly nearly every week.

    Was an enjoyable night. A lot more focus on the women this time around, with the new medals and Sam Mostyn being in attendance. The womens' game seems to be a growth area in footy at the moment, so it's good to see that being recognised.
