My first thought was, "no way is this gonna happen". But then I thought if Mitchell leaves, as seems increasingly likely, and with the likely retirements of Teddy and Benny we may well have the cap space. I would be very willing to part with Mitchell and Towers for JOM although I'm not sure if that'd be enough to get the deal done. Perhaps we could throw in one or more picks since I don't know that we are going to need that many picks with the list we have at the moment. It would be amazing, hilarious and exciting if we could get him. But I'll believe it when I see it. Will definitely have an incendiary effect on the rest of the comp. I wonder if that would put us off...

I can't see the AFL letting the JOM to Hawthorn fall over. Apparently they are organizing mediation between the Suns and Hawks. I think the Hawks will get their man.

As much as I would like to have O'Meara, I can't see it happening. Tippett is contracted so we would have to pay some of his wage for the next couple of years, plus the money we would be paying O'Meara, surely that would see us over the salary cap.
I bet the AFL would go over the contracts and fine some way of not letting it happen.

A couple of articles on The Roar website has us with pick #10. I thought we had #9, although I realize this might change on draft night with bids for academy/father son picks.

Still at number 9 on AFL site.

How can Eddie Mcquire complain about the academy system discount again when Collingwood got both their father/sons at picks in the 50's? I know nobody else bid on them but even so.

Just read an article on The Roar re:

-Hugh McCluggage requesting a trade from the Brisbane Lions 15 mins after he had been picked at #2.
    - Recruiters thought that the drafting system was flawed when clubs like Hawthorn or GWS could not get the best players and they went to the lower clubs.
    - Hugh's father bought a OLED TV because black looks better and they thought he was going to Essendon.
    - Other Brisbane players told him to play at 50% and he would get traded out.

Hopefully the author was having a lend of us and there was no truth in it (although Hugh didn't look happy when picked).
