Thread: Season 2017

    Season 2017

Im sure everyone is just as disappointed as i am and drowning the sorrows away for tonight.
But where do we go from here? On the biggest stage we had too many passengers. JPK was our only player who showed up today. That's harsh but he really was.
i thought after the heart break in 2014 we would of showed a bit of heart today... too many blokes just went through the motions today. But that doesn't take anything away from how good the Bulldogs were, the better team won but we were pretty flat.
What list changes do we make for 2017 with Tom Mitchell all but already on the next flight back to Melbourne.
We need some pace injected into this side. For me I'll give B Jack, Newman, Cunningham, Towers etc a run straight up next year to give these pacy blokes experience. GWS exposed us and today Footscray did the same. We are not quick enough on the outside.

    Bring on 2017.

There were more players than just JPK that showed up... we were within 1 point with 10 mins left after having been bruised and battered by the umpires all day.

B.jack, towers and mcglynn are lost cloggers and hopefully will be shown the door.

We should welcome in sam reid, aj and talia into that team.
Not to mention more time for allir, newman, rose.

Cunninghsm is at the crossroads. Needs a bit 2017.

We will be back here again next year. Doubt the dogs will be.

Barry, I agree with you except for Towers. I would keep him for another year to see if they can correct his brain fades. Tippett I would trade out. This guy is just a one-goal per game forward at best when he should be delivering two plus.

Towers could never play in such a contested footy game as today. He's not made for it.

I think the call to trade Tippett is a bit premature. He was just about the best ruckman in the league before his knee injury. He hasn't played well since he's come back, but he's under contract, so we will see how he goes next year.

Mitchell had a great final series. It's a shame that he has to leave, but we do need to quicken up the midfield. We just need to get fair trade value for him. From now on we should only draft players with decent pace and good endurance.

Alex Rance could play a role in our 2017 team, he'd not only complement our backline nicely but stick it up to the AFL after the stomach churning grand final umpiring. The thought is sure helping me deal with loss better.

We have the skeleton of a very good team but we need a winning trade period. Replacing players that are leaving with better players is a priority. We can't afford to lose trades this year.

I agree, Nankervis can do his job for 1/3 of the cost. How about trading out Mitchell and Tipp for Fyfe?

Now we're talking. I reckon freo might go for that, but I doubt Tipp and Mitchell would. But that's the sort of trade we should be thinking about.

Though I don't think it is just about speed. I think it is more cleanness with the ball on ground and ball use under pressure.

We were good against Geelong in those areas. But the Bulldogs were smoother out of stoppage and crumbed the ball in the goal square to kick a few goals. The type of thing we were doing to Geelong.

We could have had players like Hiscox, Towers, BJ and Cunningham in midfield for better speed. But they still need to be able to cleanly get the ball and use it well.
