Means we go into 2018 with a strong list; no disruption which is good for list management. Good development and recruiting is all that is needed for the team to go into 2018 with a lot of confidence.
And we haven't even finished 2017.

I think it's great news that Sam has resigned. I rate him highly as a very smart footballer.
Remember he game a few years ago which ended in a draw when Sam clunked a mark in the last line of defense? Horse pointed out at the time how smart it was. Ordinarily a punch would be the way to go rather than risk being outmarked, but with scores level and even a point meaning we'd lose the match, a mark was the best option to prevent any score and losing all four premiership points.
That he's also able to hurt teams in a serious way when he plays forward is added value, so I reckon this is terrific news.
And as others have pointed out, it shows something really positive about the club and its culture and how that is valued by the players. Very encouraging.
