He gets out coached very easily. The way to beat Sydney is to deny them possessions. Don't let them have a contested game. Works every time. GWS do it all the time Richmond do it to us consistently and this year Collingwood, Carlton, and now Hawthorn have done it and we can't stop it. Have a look at the uncontested possessions stats and the marks stats. We let them just own the football. You could see it happening tonight right from the start and the frustrating thing is there is never anything done by the players to address it. Why? Because like good foot soldiers they are playing to the team game plan as devised by Longmire. When there is no change to the game plan in these circumstances we lose.

With games to come against sides like rubbish sides like Richmond and Essendon the same thing that happened tonight will happen in those games. It's amazingly simple to beat us and what's astounding is Longmire has never had a plan to counter it.

Longmire now surely the leading contender for coach of the year. Obviously he is enormously respected by the players and the other coaches. Often a team will reflect its coach and in this case, it is showing great strength of character.

He is still a fair way behind Clarkson.

You might have gone a bit early on this. Lets see how he goes Friday night.

Mistake to base judgment on one game or even six games.

One of those threads where going back and quoting comments would be quite embarrassing.
The difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.

To be fair, most of us were bagging him for not moving the magnets, which is something he didn't do for 3 years but has done for the last 10 weeks

Pre-Round 6 I could count the games on 1 hand when Kennedy/Parker/Hannabery weren't in the centre square

Little bit difficult without a fit Heeney, Papley and Jack. As for the previous 3 years, 2 GFs and a finals berth not bad for someone who apparently sat on his hands.

Good point, one of a number of changes he's made since then. Much made of the stars returning and once again winning contested possession - but can you name one of our stars that even now is having a better year than last year, and there have still been times in recent weeks when we haven't managed to win CP. The major changes have been the success of the team defence approach (holding the opposition's key playmakers, strangling them at the clearance, and brilliantly stopping opponents even getting inside 50), as well as the greater flexibility of the players. All of that requires acknowledgment of great work by the coaching staff as well as the players.

It can go both ways. Was John already right, or did he change as was suggested on here.

Bit of both. But he hasn't acheived anything this year yet, so let's not get ahead of ourselves.

So only a flag will do? Too many modern day swans fans have been spoilt. God help them if we dip even slightly.

Not Longmire's fault the umpiring was "not up to AFL standard" in the GF last year.
Today's a draft of your epitaph
