I like the 5 on thee bench rule and agree that it favours carrying 2 ruckmen. It still depends on the particular game situation. Reid and Amartey are more than good enough in the ruck to take on the #2 role.
It probably favours taking 3 key forwards into the game, including at least 1 who can play ruck We've been doing that anyway, so it wouldn't likely make for a change in that regard.
Both Hickey and Ladhams do more than just compete in ruck contests, which increases their chances of getting games together. It really depends on what combination of ruckmen and forwards contributes the most against a given opposition.
There is now a vacancy in the Swans coaching ranks so we await to see who the Swans appoint as their Development and VFL coach. I notice that many AFL clubs have up to 7-8 coaches whilst Swans have 5. Swans suffered with the reduced AFL allocation to clubs but there is now an opportunity to perhaps appoint at least another experienced head in the coaches box. Plus the new VFL coach
Yes, and we potentially pay a premium to attract quality Assistant Coaches to Sydney. People like Cox and Pyke don't come cheap. Having said that, I would take coaching quality over quantity any day. Remember when Essendon had an army of Assistants prior to the introduction of the soft cap? It didn't seem to help them too much!
Disagree, Gloveski, we need the best coaching group to go the next step to win the GF. We definately need a Development Coach just like when we had Rys Shaw, the best we have had.
noted yesterday that angus anderson (x academy) has signed with Sturt
Sorry my reply was in reference to all the Essendon Assistants .
One more good quality coach should do the trick . I think we’re doing a lot right the improvement very quickly of our younger players is proof of that
Maybe bring Joey on as an assistant and move someone like McVeigh to reserves coach
