I hope we do turn it around, put the after burners on and our Bloods give you lots of joy on the weekends in 2023 !!!

Beautifully put Auntie- we wish you a full recovery Mal.
I’ve been following a Melbourne based biotech research firm called Prescient Therapeutics who are conducting groundbreaking work in cancer treatments. Though in early clinical trials at this stage, they have received recognition from the FDA and are leading the world in CAR-T technology which promises to become a major form of treatment and possible future cure for cancer.

Please check their website as it will give you a pretty good idea, and you can also contact the Company fo more info.. And ask your doctors to follow up as well! It really looks very promising🌸

Wishing you fortitude and love, Maltopia. Sad news. I echo the sentiments of others that I hope you get to see a few flags yet and generally enjoy your remaining years! Ditto for the rest of us.

Also tricky how to tell the kids. Personally, I think sooner rather than later. I offer that opinion only in case it's helpful to you - apologies for intruding if it isn't. I am a parent, and I had my dad die of cancer, and my sister survive pancreatic cancer - but I don't think any of that really qualifies me to give an opinion much more than anyone else.

My thoughts also with the McCartin family. What a horror week for them. I won't offer any opinions about what they should do but I hope that once they make their choices they can embrace them and live with them equanimously.
All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)

Just looking through the list of free agents as well as those coming out of contract with other clubs at the end of this year. I see no one on either list that would qualify as the "big fish" people keep raving on about who the Swans are supposedly in the market for. De Konig from Carlton would be the best of them but hardly a big fish in the sense of the Budwah or the Pluggermeister, or even the Hallster. A big fish in terms of size would be Charlie Dixon but he's getting pretty long in the tooth but would fit the bill as a well known, big bustling, forward presence. Maybe Kinnear and Horse have a bloke lined up who is in contract but will DEMAND a trade to the Swans.

But then we would have to give up players/picks. Who could we offer that has currency that we are prepared to trade?

A big (tall) fish that could work is Ben MacKay and turn him into a forward like his brother. Or keep as a KPD if Paddy chooses to retire.

But he has an injury history which is worrisome.

Naismith is dominating his league btw and is hopeful for a mid season draft call up.

Larkey, Oscar Allen, Van Rooyen, Tom de Kooning - one of these must be gettable. Couldn’t believe we didn’t take Van Rooyen at the draft. Extraordinary decision. Worst of all Shedrick would probably have been available at our next pick.

It was a dumb move. We just lost Aliir and it was before we had Paddy McCartin. We didn't need an inside midfielder. And JVR can play both ends of the ground. He would have been the perfect pick.

If there's a choice between taking roughly equal quality players, you always should take the KPP over the midfielder. Every year there are loads of inside mids available, but very few KPPs.

I'm someone who thinks a team can be successful with a small forward line. Richmond won a premiership with only Riewwodt for a tall forward. What surprises me is that Longmire and Beatson don't agree with me on this, which makes passing up on JVR for Sheldrick all the more perplexing.

We should send Amartey to that hamstring specialist in Germany (I think). We really need him to be durable and hold down a KPP position and not be another Sam Reid.

I just hope that we're the ones keep Harry Himmelberg from extending his contract at GWS. He is wasted at that club. With Harry on the list next year, I would think we would smack in the middle of the premiership window.

Himmelberg or Doedee would be the two I would target . Would put a smile on my face to grab Doedee from the crows after how they got Dawson and held us over a barrel

Maybe we had Himmelberg in mind at the time. Its the only excuse I can think of.

Not good news on Amartey, extended layoff: Sydney Swans forward Joel Amartey out for extended period in big blow

"Amartey underwent scans in Sydney over the weekend which confirmed the club's initial fears.

The Sandringham Dragons product is expected to be ruled out until at least the Swans' mid-season bye in round 12."

    Bummer!
