Rnd 11 Pre-Match Thread, vs Carlton at SCG, 7:50 PM Friday 26 May

Top of the bottom eight clash, with 11th vs 12th.

    Out: Ladhams
In: Hickey (should have recovered from delayed concussion hopefully)

Be good to have another look at TDK as he should be back this week as well.

Other than that, if is not a convincing win by us, I don't know if it will be bearable to watch and have a whole weekend of us posting about poor game plans, them waltzing out of the centre bounces, lack of fitness, goal keeping woes etc.

Carlton have copped a pasting from Vicmedia and their supporters. President had to do the doorstop interview Monday Morning to show board support for Voss so I expect Carlton to come out firing.

Everything will be secondary to the resignation of the whinging sniping Hardwick. I'll miss his pressers LOL

    Any word on Tom McCartin?

Injury list on the website - Ladhams a long stint on the sidelines, Tom McCartin return is unclear. Ramps still a while away.

The year is done, club should plan for 2024. Time to give HHK a try at senior level

Yes, bring him in for a few games now. As for Clarke- he may be a competent tagger but that’s not required with our current position so I would drop him against the Blues. Rowie can cover Walsh and Parks on Cripps.
If big Tom is fit, he comes in for Ladhams and HHK for Clarke. Let’s get back to attacking footy!

It's going to be an interesting game I think. Will the Swans be buoyed by last week's win, back at home for a special round? Will Carlton fire up after a run of poor games and some media pressure? The Swans ins/outs are potentially very interesting.

I'm aiming to enjoy it regardless. Marn Grook at the SCG always has a special feel and has established a few traditions now - I do like the didgeridoo after each home goal!

Collingwood jumped Carlton early in the game last Sunday and were really only able to maintain that lead for the rest of the game, not extend it.

I fear that we'll have our work cut out for us Friday.

Hope like hell that I'm wrong.

I think Carlton is a good opponent for us, because our task is simple. Beat them in the middle and we’ll win the game.

It’s a big if, but hopefully we can plan for it and achieve it?

Would be good to keep 6 players there and not chuck a spare back

Is that not true of pretty much every game?

    Not too confident
Their team on paper is stacked

2 of the best 5 fwds
2 of the best 10 mids
    A top 5 CHB
    A top 5 HBF

Plus Cerra, Mcgovern, Newman, Docherty, Acres, Kennedy

Havent watched them this year but there record is a disaster with that list healthy

Not every team. Collingwood 2022 almost never won the clearances.

I think Carlton are very much a stoppage dependent team (like the Swans of old were) whereas other teams have other ways of beating you
