Rnd 16 - vs Geelong at SCG, 7:50 PM, Friday 30 June 2023

How pleasant to come off a big win.

Chance to redeem ourselves against Geelong and to also keep close in the race for the final eight.

Jeremy Cameron should be out still with the
12 day concussion rule which will help us.

Hard to drop anyone from the side, even Clarke kicked two early goals and has a chance for a third from a set shot.

McCartin should come in for Melican or Francis. Hayward might come back for Clarke due to his compromising material he has on Longmire.

Would be good to see Fox back in the main team too.

Other than that, can’t see any other changes and think Franklin, who is one of my favourite players, stays out.

    So my ins are:

    Francis and Hayward

    My outs are:

    Francis and Clarke

Spot on Mal- but you have Francis both in and out: maybe that’s where he’s at?😊

You mean Ins: McCartin and Wilbur
    Outs: Francis and Clarke
    Cheers!

Selectors have pleasant problem for a change after such a big win & availabilities. Buddy being the most sensitive.Think selectors will find justification in giving him another week off (not rushing him back). Shame that he won't get chance to re-live that 1000th goal moment on same ground / opposition. Sure it will get mentioned by broadcasters ad nauseam!

If Hayward does return to the team, I think it will be at the expense of Fox rather than Clarke, who I think selectors may not want to penalise his good performance and start him as sub instead.

Tom McCartin more likely to replace Melican as a like for like, as Francis appears to be playing the Paddy marking intercept role.

In Summary, unlucky for anyone to be dropped after that win. Odds on for no changes. Followed by 1 change (T Mac for Melican) and outside odds to also replace Fox with Hayward.

Unfortunately, whilst WC was good for confidence, playing against a team for which the term "witches hats" is a complement, is terrible preparation for the high pressure game that is to come. So I hope there is some high pressure training this week.

IMO Fox played as the sub with the intent of giving him a rest.

He had played from round 4, and every game since except round 7 when our backline was under pressure due to injury. With players returning and the lacklustre quality of the opposition the time was right to give him a rest. So he was a resting sub. He entered the game at the start of the last quarter when Mills was subbed out. Given we had no injuries during the game, this appeared to be a planned substitution.

He won't be the sub next week, as he got a rest already. Does that mean Fox plays in the starting 22 next week? I don't know.

Fox got 10 disposals in the one quarter he played. He's not getting dropped.

Melican got 8 for the whole game.

To be a little fair to Melican, the ball was rarely in our defence. Harris Andrews or Steven May would have struggled to get 8 possessions playing in our defence on Saturday.

Fox played that last qtr like a man possessed. Be very interesting to see selection this week .

Arguably we have Fox, Mccartin , Buddy and Hayward best 22 to squeeze in some how . Going to be a few disappointed players

Any team that is capable of kicking 200 points does not require anything players in its forward line. Hoping Buddy can rest at least one more round and Haywood have a stint in the reserves. Has anyone noticed how the media have just mentioned how bad the West Coast Eagles were and almost no mention of how good the Swans were?

Yes. All the ‘talk’ is the depth of hurt, despair and dire straights (fab band) the Eagles are in, like as if none of their 18 players (on the park aaotime) were actually trying to make any impact on the game.
Even Andrew Gaze (a nice enough chap, on Bounce) said mockingly ‘‘and then there was the irrelevant 200 Pt win by the Swans’ .

I have a feeling that McCartin may spend another week in the VFL, and the only change might be Hayward in for Clarke. Maybe Fox plays forward and Hayward is the sub. Worth waiting until the injury update before making predictions.

We have to go 7-2 from here to make finals, so this is a really big game in that context. We can't afford another home game loss.

Hawkins will be the most difficult player to contain. In my view Melican is the better match up compared to Francis or a returning McCartin.

McCartin OR Francis could fill the intercept role.

It helps that Cameron will not play
