"John had his larynx crushed in a ruck duel with Simon Madden and almost died. Remarkably the young player walked off the field with blood pouring from his mouth, when the Swans medical team could not locate their stretcher. He was rushed by ambulance to St Vincent's Hospital and given an emergency tracheotomy in order to save his life. A degree of controversy over the incident would later surface with questions asked over the style of ruck play that was considered safe at centre bounces. The following season the AFL introduced new rules for ruck play at centre bounces."

Yes, it is, but so is the Suns team, and they've got a massive advantage in AFL experience, with the likes of Casboult, Ellis, Day, Sexton, McPherson, et al. Although it could be argued that most of those are a touch past their best, so it'll be interesting how our youngsters match up against them.

Looks like they're playing Green in defence and he's doing pretty well so far. It'll be interesting to see how that develops.

Quite a competitive quarter, with a number of players doing pretty well. Probably the difference between the sides, was that the forward 50 entries for the Suns were a bit cleaner. Although, if the flags are any indication, they did have the wind advantage.

I'm enjoying the game, despite the low scores and despite being a couple of points behind. Both teams are applying plenty of pressure, which is leading to the attacking forays being a bit chaotic, with both defences being on top.

Ladhams - in everything but just lacks forward craft but really enjoying his effort
Sheldrick - is back and just needs to tidy up his ball use and he will get a senior game
Snell - can’t do much more love to see him get a sun in the seniors

Yes, I like Snell. He reminds me a bit of Rampe.

Snell is super clean and a good decision maker, both with and without the ball. Those two attributes alone will take him a fair way.

Mitchell's hard running has been paying dividends for him lately.

- Sheldrick getting a lot of it but poor disposal use. Hopefully just dusty from his time off.
- Francis looking great in defence as an inceptor. Surely he's not our answer....
- Umpiring and our goalkicking keeping the Suns into it
