VFLW: New faces to feature against Bulldogs
Here's the team. It will be led by Ham (in the absence of McEvoy and Molloy).
Good to see the family connections at the club extend still further with the inclusion of one of the VFLW top-up squad. I wonder if she can kick.
Hi LIz
Shall we assume that as both brothers could kick, Senna can too?
For some reason, I assumed that 'Lexi and Sheppard's suspension from the AFLW would affect their playing in the VFLW - so I'm a bit confused.
Of the VFLW selections Scott says "we're going in to win it" - then explains the first players picked will be newbies and fringe-dwellers.
I like the selection policy but can't realy reconcile it with his comment.
A bit more confused.
I'm not even sure how we could win it if we only play 5 games and the other teams play 14. Or does he mean against the 'Dogs?
My confusion knows no end.

It would seem a bit OTT (in my opinion) if Sheppard's and Hamilton's suspensions cost them the whole VFLW tournament AND two AFLW matches. That's staying clear of any moral judgements, but just comparing it to the suspensions that other players silly (or unlucky) enough to get caught have been handed.
In terms of "winning it" I presume Gowans means the match, given we can't, as you point out, win the whole damn thing. My confusion is also abundant, but mostly around why we're only playing five games and not the whole ration. Though I guess that's not new news.
A shame that they're playing the same time as the men's game.
Both you and Liz were correct, I must have assumed the VFLW games would be treated like a preseason game - but WRONG
On the other hand I'm glad to see her out there. It's the best 1/2 of football I've seen 'Lexi play. Has the wood on her opponent and is using two handed taps - Gardner is on fire but 'Lexi is helping with some silver service delivery.

A fun game to watch.
Young Holly made me forget all about Aleisha what's-her-name.
Grunden looked very exciting on occasions.
The Montana Beruldsen conversion project may well bear fruit.
Abbey Martin could do with a few good steak dinners.
Sarah Skinner was one of the better dogs players.

Hopefully there'll be a stream replay available at some point. I'm annoyed I couldn't (or chose not to) watch after quarter time.
The part that I did watch I was impressed by the bigger size of bodies running through the middle than we had last year. Giselle Davis (Davies?), in particular, added something to the line up.
And of course (your) Tanya Kennedy went well Liz (commentators unkindly called her the brick wall :-)). Some of the Swans link up play through the middle was very good, with Ham looking very strong in this company.
Maybe they'll swing Davies around a bit (back/forward) if Lexi is going be 2nd ruck for the AFLW team - Davies looked good. Other additions Hauseger and Grundin were quiet but ok, nice to see Cooper get the goals albeit easy ones.
Wow we won by 62 points! I would love to watch a replay.
