    No Hall, no sydney?

I was pondering this, after the game.Really, Hall didn't do much except take geelong's number one defender.

I am in no way suggesting giving Hall a run in the twos, but maybe when he isnt kicking goals move him to the square where he can be very dangerous.

Just putting it out here for suggestion.

Hall was out at the 50 a lot to leave the square for O'Keefe. Hall didn't many goals, but did okay, more as a CHF for much of the game. Delivery to the forwards was crap too.

Within the context of the game, Hall did OK. When he kicks most of our score we wonder if we're too dependent on him. When someone else pops up, he "doesn't do anything"??

Hall's first 10 minutes of the game was critical and he was unlucky not to kick a goal at the second attempt. During that period he showed Thompson that Harley could not play on him. Harley then had to move onto the Swans' "second" forward, and whoever he was picking up promptly moved close to goals, where Harley least likes to be.

OK, so it wasn't enough to win the game but had the delivery forward been better it might have been telling. Roos had the front half of our team playing to the structure he wanted, rather than Thompson's.

O'Keefe underlined his value today by demonstrating his versatility. Most of this year he's been playing well up the ground, but his ability to take strong contested marks in front of goal was critical today and underlines the flexibility of the Swans forward line-up.

While the team clearly hasn't been kicking enough goals this year (and the absences of Schneider and Davis have been a contributing factor) that has little to do with the talent, flexibility or even the work rate of our forward line, IMHO.

I would've thought the absence of Williams would've been more critical to us than Hall not taking his usual 8-9 marks.

Hall's presence on the ground always draws atleast 2 defenders so I don't see why the crumbing type players aren't hanging around his feet to cleanup, if he doesn't take the mark.

I have also noticed a couple times in the last few weeks, that MOL brings the ball to ground when he knows he can't mark it into the path of a forward running swan, so they can swoop on it.

    Very clever.

a silly statement given that Geelong is flying, has a great record at home and the game was close. Scarlett beats most of his opponents and Hall still did some great feeds. At the other end their dangerous forwards were largely held. They had a few cameos to match what O'Keefe did.

He would leave a huge hole if he was injured or suspended.
But you would have said the same thing about Plugger, and I remember how well the team adapted without him.
Instead of the one target, we had players streaming down the ground, sharing the goals.
    Exciting stuff.

Hopefully we can adapt when he is out, and I suppose that will happen at some stage...

Sometimes I think that Barry could be used as a diversion. We could deliberately kick over his head when he is on the lead to a player running into goal.Opposition players just zone off our forwards and double/ triple team him.By using this tactic we could snag a few goals and make the oppsition more accountable to their man thus giving Barry a preferred one on one.
    Anyway just a thought.

We've done this a few times before - with Magic, O'Keefe and Buchanan.
