Very poor umpiring but I think it was poor both ways. Biased commentary makes the win all the more sweet!

i think towers and Rohan have to be dropped...rohan disappeared till the last 30 seconds of the game and same with towers...
have to reward form from the neafl boys...

aside form that great win, the bots just willed themselves and it was the yng ones that stood up...paps was great and it was great to see just moving the ball forward no matter what..
    great win....

His 2nd efforts on a few occasions were good....But 6 possessions and 1 tackle is no good.

Back to the Neafl, which I think is his natural habitat.

We have players the calibre of Dawson and Aliir, to mention a few, waiting in the wings and IMO they offer an upgrade on Towers.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MT

I watched the last 15 minutes again.

    - Kennedy and Heeney really good in winning stoppages and shutting down Richmond midfielders.
    - Newman won some important 50/50 contests on the boundary line.
    - Rohan gave us a lot of run out of our half and won key contests.
    - Smith had a few important marks and tackles.
    - Papley was excellent

What I would love to see at the next Richmond game ... when Rance dives, the front row of the cheersquad holds up scores for the diving!

Surely, with four umpires, and the slight delay inherent in the stop ball situation (ie because a free was paid), one of them might have pointed out that the Swans never had four players in the square and proceed with another bounce/throw.
I was at the game with a friend who is an umpire. I was saying to him that we only had 3 players in the square. He said the decision was correct as once the umpire sets up/comes in to bounce, no other players can move into the square. It was the fault of our midfielders not getting it right.

Just watched the last 2 minutes on the AFL site. Newman passes to Smith who marks right on the grass cut. He goes back and the Richmond player runs half the grass cut over the mark. Should have been 50 metre penalty.

An absolutely outstanding game by Newman. He really is a smart player. Hanners had the stats but boy did he slaughter the footy by foot. Thought Hewett was pretty good plus plenty of others. By the way who played on Martin? I thought he was pretty ineffective.

I get why his normal routine is ineffective from that distance but surely he's capable of developing an alternative approach?
Liz I used to play a fair bit of golf

I guy I know used to be a long drive champion

    Hits the ball miles

But the technique he uses for that is miles apart from chipping technique

He used to miss greens on the full sometimes even though he was off 0 handicap !!

Half mental he said and half against the grain technique he built for long range hitting and found a lack of rhythm for a technique in close

I wonder if this is the same for bud that he has built a kick on the run that is lethal from long range but the technique when he can't kick it hard doesn't work in close? And he is yet to find an in close technique that works mentally and physicallly

So why doesn't he just kick it the same way he does from 55m I hear u ask ???

    Hhhmmmm

That was such a sweet win. I absolutely loved it. We actually won all three quarters after the first (it was just the 1st quarter margin that needed some chasing down). I was still quite hopeful leading up to half time (it is pretty hard to change momentum sometimes).

Buddy's report was a joke and the high contact free kick that happened later with Rance was complete garbage - the umpire was sucked right in.

It sure beats the end result from the corresponding game last year!
