Hi guys,
Am increasingly having people contact me in relation to the ticket situation for the Round 1 clash at the Gabba. I will apologise that I have not exactly been forthcoming with information on that front-please excuse me. Losing one's job and place of residence does tend to tae one off the ball just a tad.
As stated before, the way we have normally gotten tickets for ourselves is through Patrice at the club office. Normally the cut-off is 2-3 weeks before the match before we send everything off to the Lions, Crows etc etc. But I hear that Patrice has actually left her position in the office.
I'll see what I can do as regards getting General Admission tickets available to us through the club office. That way we can all sit together (you'll have to wave a flag or patty OK!
) without having to worry about set seats etc etc. If a few of us want to stand a little way back from us in the Cheer Squad and have a few drinks, that'll be cool too. Remember we'll have a roped off area for us, so drinkers can sit directly behind us, most probably with the legendary anti-Brisbane supporters club.
I think it is great that even the everyday Red&whiteOnliners are starting to come around and realise that the Cheer Squad are not creatures from the deep blue sea, but are intelligent and PASSIONATE supporters of our club. And that it HELPS to have all the Swans contingient at away games all together. There is no point in buying a set seat on the half forward line when you can come and help make a difference. Last year we did just that. This year I'm hoping for a group double in size to the one we had up there last year.
As Robbie and I have already started planning, we both have high hopes that we will have our biggest group ever in Brisbane. But that will only happen if EVERYONE does their bst to rope in EVERY Swans fan they see once we get inside the ground. I'll be pre-occupied with trying to get our 1.8 metre high flags inside the ground again. (And yes, I'll be bringing the biggies again guys. Cal me belidgerant if you will, but security are the people who decide what is acceptable in a sporting stadium, not heads of Cheer Squads 200metres away down the other end of the field. They did NOT have any problem with anything we did, apart from a bit of colourful language.)
Whilst the support away from home is more than welcome, it is at home where things still need to improve. Interested people fed up with sitting amongst silent cardboards and yuppie pretenders are more than welcome to help us out on a casual basis to suss things out, starting Sunday. Manager & Seth, I'm hoping you'll both be there to help us out.
cheers everyone
