Need some help from you Sydney people

My wife and I are planning to come over from Tassie for the big game providing we can get tickets tomorrow.Just a few questions taking in mind that I have never been to Sydney before

WOuld I be better of trying to stay close to Homebush or would it cost me to much for the taxi ride.
Or should I stay in the city centre and catch a train to the big game .............taking in mind that my wife is six months pregnant, .

Also what would some of the best places be to stay.........please help

6 Months pregnant! That does make it a bit more tricky.

Normally I would say to stay in the City and train it out there, but it does get quite tight on the trains on the way back to the city.

If you can get into a hotel in the Olympic Park precinct - you can train your way to and from the airport from Olympic Park but avoid the rushes after the match....

Have fun up here (Where in Tassie you from?)

If you want simple convenience, stay at the Novotel at Homebush. It's a very short walk to the game, you can get a meal and a drink before the game at the hotel and it's easy to get back there afterwards. If you want to party on downstairs you can (the keg is something of a dump though, but as it's the only place for miles, it is well populated) and your wife can retreat to your room if she's tired. If you're just coming up for the game, with no intention of sight seeing, this could be a good option.

The downside of staying off-site and catching the train is that the last train leaves relatively early and you can't hang around (at the afore-mentioned dump or any after match that may or may not happen).

The alternative is to stay somewhere quite nice and cab in/out (or train in/out). Cabs to get you there will be easy. It's less easy to catch a cab home as these are typically in hot demand.

Another option is the river cat ... they run a special service in conjunction with Swans games (not sure if it's a James Cook cruise, check out your Swans email as they promote it each time, but I've deleted mine). $55 return (I think), includes the trip and drinks/nibbles. If you stay in the city, it's probably only a little more expensive than a cab both ways for the two of you.

I guess that it all comes down to how much you want to spend.
      Dream, believe, achieve!

The Pub is called "The Brewery" and is right out front of the Novotel (on your left hand side as you come out of the train station at Olympic Park) and diagonally opposite Telstra Stadium

The only time I've ever heard of Rosebery is in relation to Cycling, do they still have the track race there in December before the big carnivals happen?

We start meeting up at the Brewery from about 4pm on, usually to the left of the food area or outside at the same end.

Of course the other place for a drink after the game is the West Concord Hotel (read pub). Approx 20 minutes walk thru Olympic park and they also do accomodation. Quite a few head back that way and catch the train back to Sydney. No where nearly as crowded and it only takes approx 5 minutes longer.
