    Reserves Side

Given that this weekend focuses on the reserves side, (with a few seniors thrown in) I thought it would be interesting to think about the shape of the reserves side for this weekend and for the year head. The most striking thing about this exercise is the observation that with the number of rookies we have available there won?t be the need for many top up players . It would appear that we will have a much stronger team which will be a good thing for morale and the ?winning culture? at the club.

    Possible Reserves Side this weekend:

    Fixter James Powell

    Dempster Campbell M Davis

    Malceski Schmidt Garrubba

    Grundy Vogels Saddo

    Willo2 Micky O Clarke

    Jolly Potter

    Spriggs

    Interchange from:

Doyle Goodes Ericksen Powell Garrubba Hayes Shaw Crouch

    Possible Reserves Side next weekend:

    Willo2 Powell Shaw

    Hayes Campbell M Davis

    Malceski Moore Garrubba

    Grundy Vogels Saddo

    Schmidt James Clarke

    Ericksen Potter

    Spriggs

Interchange from: Depending on selections, could include Dempster (hope he gets a senior game), Fixter, Doyle or Jolly.

It seems that there will be good competition for senior spots this year as well given the guys that will be missing out for round one.
We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!

Wow you couldnt fit Sundqvist in?

I hope Sundvist has a good comeback well this season and gets a couple of senior games.

I was under the impression that senior players due to play in round 1 had to have a week off, unless they got special dispensation from the Players' Assoc.

Are you anticipating that Fixter, James, Dempster, Spriggs, Jolly and Doyle will all be omitted from the team to play Hawthorn?

          OK so my post sucks.

Didn't know about the need for special dispensation.

I guess that the team will look more like my team for next week with Goodes, Crouch MO, etc rather than my team for this week.

The main point I was trying to make is that this year we can expect a better showing from the team, a more unified team and one that is likely to give the finals a bit of a shake in Canberra.

They do need special dispensation...so only those short of match fitness will be playing this weekend.

There's a list somewhere in the papers which mentions Ablett, Crouch, Mathews, Goodes, Doyle, Malceski, Moore, Schmidt and Willoughby

I went out there, but had to leave early because our baby was getting pissed off.

Davis looked very good, with 2.2 in the first 25-minute "half" (missed a sitter right in front) against the Tigers.

I noticed Matthews, Crouch, Goodes, Ablett and Saddington were all running around. Moore, Schmidt and Powell all got a bit of the ball.

I don't know Malceski by sight, but someone who looked 25 wearing his number was doing a lot around half-forward. Shaw was doing the rucking and directing a bit of traffic as well.

                I don't remember seeing Sundqvist.

Goodes started at CHB, but moved forward/on-the-ball after about 15 minutes. He wasn't seeing much of it with the score already 5.6 to 1.0 the Swans way.

Hopefully no one was injured after I left.

According to the Wagga Tigers website the final score was Sydney 70, Wagga Tigers 13

                    No further details were available

Then we were to play another game later that day as part of a double-header

It would be interesting to see how good Ablett could get if he's able get to elite fitness, his running really lets him down.

From the sounds of things it will be rnds 4-6 before the side starts to settle down.

An article in the Canberra Times on the Reserves games on the weekend

The game against Eastlakes was just a little one-sided, 117-0 to be exact

Gee, you have to feel a bit sorry for the other clubs in the competition when they get hit by a raft of senior AFL players. At least it's only their pre-season competition.

LOL, wouldn't you be p!ssed if for your first run of the season your opponent is Goodes (or another). You'd be looking forward to getting benched.
