All aboard!!
An AFL site article detailing the impressive record of Will Edwards.
Since his debut, he's only behind Harris Andrews for percentage of defensive contests won, and he's number one in the comp for spoils. And his 18 spoils against the Dogs was apparently a Swans record.

All fair enough and yes, Edwards deserved that tick👍 1Leave a comment:

Coaches votes for the game. Curnow and Grundy shared BOG, while I'm pleased Edwards got a vote.
9 Charlie Curnow (SYD)
9 Brodie Grundy (SYD)
5 Isaac Heeney (SYD)
4 Bailey Dale (WB)
2 James Jordon (SYD)
1 Will Edwards (SYD)Leave a comment:

Has Phillipou registered a tackle this year?
Watching Dattoli in the VFL yesterday he seems to have a habit of going to ground to easily and needs to eradicate this if he is to progress to the next level. Phillipou on the other hand looks to be a real talent and given that he virtually had no preseason because of injury, he is developing nicely. Not quite ready yet but look out for him next seasonLeave a comment:

Ladhams much more of a ruck than a forward unfortunately. Additionally I wanted to really like Dattoli but hes been very average in the reserves.
Also controversially, while I do think hanily and Corey Warner probably aren’t AFL level, I think Cleary is starting to show signsLeave a comment:

The backline was superb against the Bulldogs and as long as McCartin, Edwards, Mills, Blakey and Rampe, with Wicks to come back I am confident with that lot.
Add Serong and Roberts playing on the wings who get back to assist I do not share your concerns.
I did watch a little of VFL game yesterday and Bice was outstanding and clearly above that level as noted by the commentators. He was dropped for a very good reason and as long as they do not allow him to take kick ins he still has a role to play.
we have depth in the backline with Cunningham, Melican, Haming and Kyle all contributing.

MRO findings:
* Matthew Kennedy (WB) offered a 1-match ban for forceful front-on conduct.
* William Lewis (WB) fined for staging.
* Jordan Croft (WB) and Dane Rampe (Syd) fined for engaging in a melee.

Paps back is good
I just think Cleary and Hannily arent pure fwds
Rosas and Cootee seem to have more fwd craft, even if they aren't exceptional
A small fwd inside the 50 should be clean hands and a shot on goal in less then 5 steps, the ones we are playing now have zero goal sense.👍 1Leave a comment:

At the same time, that doesn’t result in a free kick on a different player. That little grub made it look like he’d detonated a land mine.Either the Bulldogs player has a very sensitive ribcage, or the Bulldogs player was staging. The latter is almost certain.
This was a very stupid action and was rightly punished on field with a free kick leading to an easy goal. This should be highlighted mercilessly in the match review with a replay on loop in front of the entire playing group until Gulden goes to the front of the room and apologises to all the players. He needs to apologise to Weightman as well if he hasn't already done so. Gulden needs to harden up and get the skin of a rhino quick smart because it shows that it's possible to put him off his game with niggle.
The incident should become a part of future training for new recruits showing what not to do.👍 1Leave a comment:

Papley's likely to return next week. That will solve several of these problems at once while Papley feasts on crumbs.Western Bulldogs aren't a defence to measure yourself against.
Problem is when we go small against good teams they will take Curnow out if the mix.
We go long into the fwd line more often than not, need talls crashing packs like Mclean.
Still not convinced of Hannily or Cleary, both very fumbly.
Next week is Fremantle. They've turned into flying purple people eaters lately. I think they're due for a loss, but can we beat them?👍 1Leave a comment:
