Now that we have pick 6, I'm now quite keen on some of our options, even if it will probably drop to pick 8.

Some pundits have Drever in that range. If so, I think he'd be a very good pick up. A big bodied mid with pace and skill, who can win plenty of ball. Though I suspect that he'll probably be gone by our pick. Much the same with Mellody. Classy midfielder, but will almost certainly be taken by West Coast.

There's a chance that Van Hattum will be available at our pick. Which is an interesting one. Looked an excellent ruck prospect to me, when I saw him play, but do we really need another developing ruck?

I'd probably place a bid on Matthews from GWS, but I might be a touch disappointed if the Giants didn't match. Murray from the Lions might be also worth a bid. We probably need some more run off half back and he did that well for the Allies. Although, if we add McGroder and/or Medved, then that need is lessened.

Then there's the two KPDs, Harris and Snell. Both look quality prospects, and with Melican, Hamling and McCartin all aging, and Rampe still considering his future, we might need some more depth there.

And at the other end of the field is Gayfer. Most pundits currently have him mid-teens, but after his combine performance, he should be a riser. His marking and attack on the ball is impressive. And with him breaking the vertical leap record, you'd assume that he can do a bit of relief ruck work. So, I'd be happy with him, although his expressed desire to play for Collingwood, could be a problem?

Just reflecting on Norths complete rebuild via the serious AFL incentives

ie a club that has had a stack of early picks and how have though progressed ? Albeit many top5 which sometimes the difference and sometimes not

and I totally get it re value - Goodes, Rampe, Hannes, Parker, Warner, Reid, Papley, Lloyd, Gulden, McCartin etc etc how can we punters see their value when taken so late in drafts or pre season drafts to become elite !!! Not to mention well above average talent like McInerney and those later picks that are ten year AFL players but not elite BUT strong starting team players

      Will Phillips pick 3 underwhelming

jason Horne Francis - pick 1 gone to Port…. OUCH

Sheezel - pick 3 GEM elite trajectory

Wardlow - pick 4 GEM elite trajectory

McKercher - pick 3 elite trajectory

      Duurama - pick 4 underwhelming

Finn O’Sullivan - pick 2 - young and average now but could be elite

So for me pick 6 is fairly exciting for us in this draft !!!!! Especially vs next two drafts coming up in 2027 and possibly 2028 if Tassie dip back in with a fistful of picks

but only one piece of the puzzle of our 5 pieces to trade or draft from North

it is IF you trust we get it right which we generally havent and then if we do we will wait another 3/4 years to find out and by then we will be out of our window, this is what really disappointments me. I will have to get over it now and move on lol

The Sydney Swans have strengthened its draft hand for the next few years, after a trade with the North Kangaroos for Nick Blakey.

has anyone done the numbers on who might be keen bundling some of our picks for points re their draft hand?

we have 5 picks with points attached

no doubt pick 6 we will keep but we have a little to offer or use in the draft

“The Swans now have picks 6, 38, 39, 47, 54, 76 and 95 in the upcoming 2026 National Draft as well as three Second Round picks in 2027 and two First Round picks in 2028.

It’s the first time the Swans have had a top 10 draft pick since 2020, where they drafted Logan McDonald with pick 4 and matched a bid to take QBE Academy graduate Braeden Campbell at pick 5.”
