I'd like to give Green another run as he showed promise and see what he can provide as 2nd Ruck/Forward, but i think they'll most likely play it safe with McLean.

It's important to get Snell into these last 2 games. Even though I was pleased to see Edwards get a shot at AFL level, I've long thought that Snell was the better prospect. I don't know if he can show enough for us to use him in the Finals, but I would like to see how he goes at this level. He's an important player for us long term. If he goes well, I would seriously consider trading Melican. I think McCartinin, Edwards and Snell will be our KPD backline next year, injuries permitting.

There is no way Snell will be given a game at this stage of the year. Firstly he has been out injured, and secondly the coaching staff will be looking will be looking at consolidating the team and bringing in players with senior experience and likely to be in contention for the finals.
I feel for Snell as he deserved a chance a few weeks ago but unfortunately injury came at the wrong time.
I cannot agree with you on dropping Hamling, he was far better than Melican last week who looked slow.

It would not be a bad idea to see how Will Green goes in forward 50 instead of Mclean
I think Papley, Gulden, Campbell, Wicks to get some more games under their belt. They have a 1 week off coming so no reason to rest them.
Warner can play more forward role. And let others run the midfield to see how we go.

I would like to see how Charlie Curnow can drag the main defender outside f50 over the course of the match. He is playing a bit more physical but with Tom Barass I think the best Idea would be get him outside the f50 and let Logan or Mclean and smalls run amok in the f50.
The strategy against Hawthorn is playing 3 talls apparently. They have not coped with it in a few games. But they will bring back Scrimshaw for the finals. It will be a great tactical game.

Hamling doesn't even play defence in the 2s and he looks less comfortable with the ball then the person holding the banner

I'd overlooked Hamling/Melican as won't we need both. So Kyle stays to continue his development for Hamling.

Lots of interesting thoughts posted as we fine tune for the finals and secure 2nd spot. Selection will be interesting as always.

Hope McInerney will be right next week to get a game under his belt before the finals. I would even consider playing him in the VFL wild card round should that option present itself, as he will have been out for 10 weeks.

Also hope Rowbottom is ok to go for the finals and continue where he left off.

it would work IF we had 3 consistent key forwards BUT Mclean isn't in form and is limited, playing him as a second ruck allows us to limit the exposure he has to unbalancing the side - Max King will hopefully get that role next year and then we can play a true second ruck and have 3 dedicated forwards

Yeah hopefully next year King is a factor and Green is a mainstay

In Mcleans defence, none of our fwds have played well as a fwd and rucked. We have been exposed in the Ruck all year by the 2nd Ruck/Fwd, thats why we need to separate the roles

It seems to me that with Rampe back and Hamling given a chance instead of Melican that the MC is expecting Blakey to pick up the third tall forward against good teams and play more defensive role than the offensive role and as a result we are pushing Bice to play that attacking running offensive player. I am not sure he can be as good as Blakey doing either. So we are going to get poorer quality than Blakey for offense. Mills and Rampe will be the general defenders and I suspect Rampe won’t play the attacking role at all.

Melican has been in and out of the side all season depending on matchups. Blackey, McCartin and Edwards had been the tall defenders all season.,The only change is Hamling replacing Edwards following his injury. Rampe plays a different role on the mid sized forwards
