Wildcard Finals.

Tonight was a game where I'd happily have seen both teams lose. But after that epic contest, I almost felt a smidgen of sympathy for Collingwood. Didn't last long, and I hope the Dogs get rolled next week. But it was a great demonstration of how good Aussie Rules can be when you have two closely matched teams going helter skelter all night long."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."👍 1Comment

I enjoyed last night's game as MCS described above. With the added melodrama whether Sidebottom had played his last game, as he watched Membrey take that final kick. Possibly same with Pendlebury.
Whilst i can understand the reasons why the AFL brought the Wildcard round in, my only objection is that it SHOULDN'T be given a Finals status from a integrity pov.
The fact more teams are technically finalist than those who missed out is glaring. It lowers the bar on what constitutes a successful season for some teams.Comment

As an aside, and he doesn’t usually get these things wrong, Cal Twomey has confirmed this morning Benjamin Button is off to the Gold Coast, to play then likely join coaching ranks.
They’ll only get so much out of him as a player, but quite the coup for them given his footy IQ and smart move by him to go experience other footy programs.Comment
