General footy chat The Real Finals Begin....the other finals.

Go Freo....but at the moment, they are like a deer in the headlights. Bloody Hawks.

Go Cats.....end the Carlton fairytale once and for all!

Same for the Crows.....kill off the Fairypups!

Hawks been awesome and should be ahead by more. But . . . It feels a bit like our game over there. Huge pressure, tackling elite, good ball movement, Freo fumbly and we should have been further ahead.

The one worry for Freo is they have no system for exiting d50. It’s panicked and quick kicks, or trying to handball when there’s no overlap run. Their method is poor.

Whoops, for some reason I thought that this game was tomorrow. Fremantle seem in a bit of trouble.

If they’re good enough to come back, good on em. But boy, so far there are some brown stains on the duds of the Freo boys tonight.

I'm with you on all 3 games Stevo but the Hawks have given Freo a lesson and as much as I hate to say it, have been magnificent!

Let's hope there's no upset tomorrow night!!!

            A) the Hawks were awesome. brilliant coaching and execution

            B) a lot of big name Dockers shat the bed. Tracey, Amiss, Reid, Jackson, Young, Voss, nightmare stuff.

The Freo midfield was comprehensively smacked and their forwards were no-shows. Having been at both the 2022 and 2024 GFs, I know what the Freo fans are going through. Having said that, the Hawks were fantastic tonight.

James Sicily has grown on me through the years.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Spot on with both observations! Flagmantle not looking such a good thing now.

Hard to like him but you can't fault how good as a footballer he is, that is for sure.

                        What a demolition job.
Pretty much the blueprint for us.

Close play from the tall defenders not allowing any space to the dockers forwards.
Playing with max 2 players in their forward half and the rest of the forwards roaming between the arcs and contesting and congesting between the arcs and not allowing easy transition from defence to offence or from stoppage to forward entry by dockers. Making the Fremantle dockers run towards the goals which is their Achilles heel.
But then finding space themselves and playing elite two way game.
And then the Masterclass by 2 players - Nick Watson (what a player), James Sicily.
I admire Sam Mitchell as a coach.

We need to take the leaf out of this. Nothing too fancy just hard nosed defensive effort in between the arcs and then forward entries where we take the interceptors off. If we are in the game at 3/4 time I think we win the game.
