    Swans chat team for prelin

time to think about team for prelim. Calluum seems to be a non starter, injury looked bad on TV. 2 things who do we replace him with and who is next in line for captaoncy now our actual vc is not available for selection. Is Erol next man up?
As regards on fiels who replaces Callum, do we try and new boy in either Bowman or Snell of move Roberts to half back and bring in Corey or go for Justin Mc and hope he is up to playing, if only limited time on the field. And is Caiden Cleary a sure thing he dd inot seem to do much Sat and perhaps Corey could replace him
My ideal would be In Snell and Corey out Caiden to emergency.
By the way I feel for Callum who has displayed exceptional leadership this year particulalry over the last few weeks, I was beginning to think he lacked leadership (since is wretling injury a few years back) he always had the playing abilty you dont win the Rising Atar without it.

At this early stage i'm thinking just one change, JMac for Mills.
Cox may have different line up in mind depending on who our PF opponents will be.

Errol for Captaincy, with Rowie & Paps closely behind.

I think there will be only one change. Jmac for Mills. I thought both Cleary and Hanily played their part. They both went hard in tackles and running to support. Cleary had 4 tackles, Hanily 3. Both had some really good 1%ers. If they bring in a defender I think they will go for Melican for experience.

I can't see that you can change things off the back of that - with the exception of replacing Mills. If Juzzy is fit, you have to take the punt on him I think. McLean did terrifically well yesterday and deserves another shot.

I agree Nico there could be an argument to bring Melican in - but I think it'll be JMac for Mills and that'll be it. I can't see them blooding someone new in a Preliminary Final where the heat will be on like there is no tomorrow.

Interesting call on the captain - I'd be leaving Gulden to his key task of being the architect of winning the flag, and give it to Rowy, or perhaps Rampe. Or dare I say it - Papley wouldn't be out of place with the passion he showed yesterday to rally the troops.

          Justin Mcinerney will come in.
Amartey will probably miss out. Achilles injuries are pretty nasty, you need to be sure he can bring his A game otherwise I wouldn’t risk it.
Hanily, Warner, Jevan Phillipou all probably in the same mould. But they won’t give a debut at prelim it’s too risky to pretty much deer in headlights situation so I would think either of Hanily or Warner is fine.
we have personnel to cover for Mills - Both Roberts and Lloyd predominantly played in defense yesterday.

We need to check who the opposition is and what matchups are needed.
if it is Geelong I am sure they will have Dangerfield in the frontline with Polkinghorne and Neale and Cameron rolling through. Reasonably handful and accurate.
Fremantle will also have a stacked front line and middle.

I find Sheldrick still of the pace with ball in hand ie primarily his kicking but he still tried very hard

Jmac for sure back in and likely off HBF as he is so crafty in attack

my guess is all others from the weekends game will stay in the 23

            Hamling - stay
            gus - stay
            hamish - yes
joel - 50/50 not sure where
            hanily - yes
            Cleary - yes
jmac - yes in for mills
melican - Hamling looked good ao probably no for Melican
            Kyle - stay
            roberts - stay
            cootee - stay
            datoli - stay
            rosa - 50/50?

Will Edwards is also unavailable, as i consider him in our best 23. That made it 8 of our best 23 missing when Mills went down against a full strength Brisbane team. 9 if you want to also include Armatey. Incredible win against the odds.

Amartey won't play. You can't bring him in given the job McLean did.

I love JMac, but they'd want to be sure of his fitness. Prelim finals are genuinely hot. If not him, I'd consider a tall down back given at times, the two Harrys found themselves on Oscar Allen!

And I'm not dropping anyone. They did their bit. Even Cleary had some of the highest number of pressure acts on the ground.

I suspect it will be Jmac & Melican coming in for Mills and one of Cleary/Sheldrick/Hanily. If we play Freo they have the 3 key forwards plus Cox/Jackson and if its Geelong they have Neale, Polkinghorne, Cameron, plus Dangerfield and Henry

I think we may go that route against Freo, but I suspect we won't against Geelong. Cameron is playing way up field as he is struggling big time, so need someone to run with him rather than match him size wise as a forward.

We knew it was coming, but club has confirmed an ACL for poor Millsy.

Sydney Swans captain Callum Mills had scans today on his right knee which confirmed a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.

That sucks, expected to be the case but still held out hopes it wouldn't be something that would take him out for such a big chunk of time.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
