Just watched the first 2 quarters of the Fremantle Swans game in Round 18 since I did not watch that game early in the year. Based on how they are playing now vs how they were playing then vs what personnel we had in Round 18, I think we have a realistic chance.
Despite our personnel we had < 50 entries. If we do that again we would not get the job done.
1. Logan McDonald is playing a substantial game now and he was missing then.
2. Papley had only come back from injury for this match. He is going to be tons better.
3. We played Hamling as a forward defensive role on Alex Pearce and he ended up with no disposals. But Will Edwards was strong for most of the game. Hopefully Hamling can do that in defence in PF.
4. Errol was back for only 2 games. He is much stronger and quicker and ready to take on the tackler now than in round 18.
5. The game is set for being a tactical masterclass in the centre square and defensive half for us. What happens off the defensive structure on the offensive side, I am sure we won't think about it too much with regards to planning.

But let's bring the heat on the Freo players. I think they all suffer from Anxiety except maybe Luke Jackson and Shai Bolton (Both with premierships - Been there and done that guys)

Will be fascinated to see how they approach Errol. Longmuir pretty much said yesterday that there's no way they'll let him run free. Easier said than done, of course. My gut tells me Brayshaw mans him at centre bounce, but then they use Johnson, who's arguably their best runner, to mind him from there. He's done a good job on a few blokes this season, and his mix of size and running power will prove a challenge to shake. I think they'll understand you can't do a hard tag on Errol, but if you have someone who can nudge him off his running lines and cut down the number of handball receives he gets, job done.

Agree. Justin Mcinerney may help with the handballs received and he may help with a lot of the transition game. I am hoping he is fit and ready to go.

Listening to the PF previews, were rated 4th in the premiership stakes and not even in the conversation. Our QF win quickly forgotten.

Two changes. McInerney in for Mills and Melican in for Cunningham, who injured his calf at training. Shame for Harry, as he was very good last week. Although Melican might come in handy against the Fremantle tall forwards.

What a shame for a great clubman, as well as missing what he gave us last week. He’s one of the most popular blokes at the club and the younger players love him to bits.

I imagine either Roberts or Lloyd will have to slide back behind the ball a bit to pick up their half forwards.
