Crows have stabilised a bit, after the hot Brisbane start. Obviously Brisbane are favourites to win from here, but Adelaide only need to make up four goals in three quarters.Comment

Whoever the Adelaide small and medium defenders are, they're making our small/medium derailed look very good.Comment

It shows a) how good we were last week and b) what big heads they were and c) why the Crows knew they needed to keep adding class and chased Bailey so hard.Comment

It seems like the grand final will be freo vs lions. Maybe Hawthron and we have played our GF last week. Backing our emotional win last week will be difficult and Freo played a great game. There will obviously be opportunities and I reckon we need to focus on the following things to get the job done.
1. They will play well till the last minute so if we have to win we need to do it for the entire game.
2. Stop Luke Jackson
3. Luckily Errol won’t be tagged. So he can and has to play a very important role.
4. Centre square craft will be mighty important. More than personnel it will be primarily the focus to prevent them to get from inside to outside quickly. Shai Bolton, Caleb Serong and Young all three can really put speed from the middle and give their forwards easy access to the ball. Shai will need to be pushed into the contest from behind to disallow him any easy exits. And Grundy will have to prevent Luke punching the ball outside the contest which they will try. Make it an absolute scrappy affair. Take the running out of their game.
5. Forwards on each side are evenly matched I think. Amiss the most important for them as he can really score a lot of goals. Cox will probably create a mismatch.
6. We are lacking a tall defender. I think it’s worth considering Melican. But getting him in may mean we sacrifice a pressure player like Hanily.
7. Wingers will be very important for the defensive structure both for coming in during centre clearances and also for preventing them to out to the open side . Whoever plays that role - Roberts, Campbell will have to be on their game.
Maybe Serong tags Jackson in the middle after the initial jump ! LOL
They will give us opportunities if the game starts as a chaos scrappy game. There is too much class on the other side but again we beat the Lions with heaps of class. Let’s go and all I want to see is a full game effort and let’s punch them in the face.Comment

Both fwd lines are far 2 good for the defences
Their mids are better, we would need to stick tackles, they try to break everything
Long quick chaos into our fwd line is our only chance, cant hold up play. we could go with 5 fwds and play another behind the ball
The smaller ground will help us
They are far better as were Brissy

I wouldn't jump so quickly to such conclusions. Hawthorn at the G when they are good is always a tough prospect - and they'll bring actual pressure, unlike what Adelaide brought last night. It seems like the grand final will be freo vs lions. And while Freo played well, Geelong had their chances to win that game, especially in the third. Their lack of fitness in a few key players really hurt them - something that we don't have to worry about. And Freo now are on the road again, to play at a ground they've rarely played on at night, in front of a pretty big (and hopefully pretty hostile crowd). The nerves that blew them apart in Week 1 could easily return.
We need to play very well - sure. But I don't think it is at all a foregone conclusion that any of the 4 potential grand final combinations are out of the question."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."👍 1Comment
